disco 3 hydraulic valve broke

disco 3 hydraulic valve broke

got towed in this morning as think hydraulic lifter has gone south, started ticking noise on way home then decided to go altogether near my house.
is it worth repairing or do i get rid, only done 92000 with good history and run great untiill this happened..
what should i do guys?

I've not known a valve lifter to fail on these completely especially with such low mileage.

You'll need to confirm your suspicions before deciding your next move. It may not be a lifter and of course it maybe something worse than that. Your first move might be timing belt cover off and check the belt and tensioner mount, if that's all ok then check the timing is still correct.

If all that looks good then it will be time to remove the valve covers and check the cam chains. Not a small job, but you might be lucky!

hi its the standard model in cairnes blue, mint condition with full history ..RAC guy said thinks its lifter or defo top end as still starts up but missing on one cylinder. no fault codes..how much of a job is it to find out?

May as well do all lifters and chain/tensioners at the same time.
