Loss of all drive after EPB stuck on and no gear selection
Hi,
I've got a 2006 discovery 3 manual 2.7 tdv6. 150K on the clock
Its been parked up for a while and came to use it and the EPB came on. No biggie, pull the cable and off we go...
Drove for about 1/2 mile and at a set of traffic lights lost all drive, engine still running but no drive.
Managed to get it to the side of the road and out of the way.
Messed about with it for a bit. No high range, no low range. no forward or reverse.
Turned it off and then on again - still no drive.
It now "selects" gears without the need to depress the clutch pedal.
Can anyone shed any light or point me in the right direction as to what might be the cause of this?
TIA

Is the front and/or rear propshaft rotating when you try to drive?Defender 110 SE 2021, Tasman Blue

I assume this is a manual gearbox. If you can change gears without the clutch pedal then you have something faulty with the clutch. Could just be the release bearing or even the slave cylinder jammed holding clutch disengaged.

Cheers Globetrotter448.
Spoke to the local independent LR specialist. He suggested the same.
New clutch, slave cylinder and flywheel ordered. Anything else worth changing or checking whilst the box is out?
cheers

What does Indie think is wrong with flywheel. If its marked it can be skimmed. Once flywheel is off, then do rear engine oil seal, (seal is minimal cost) and check bearing bush in end of crankshaft. Check starter motor teeth for wear. Replace clutch release bearing if not included with clutch.

Indie didn't mention the flywheel - its one of those, might as well change it, while it's all apart
I believe the release bearing comes with the clutch. If not, I'll order one tomorrow.
Appreciate the help.
Thanks

Regarding the codes, as you have had problems, I would delete all codes and then see what comes back after the clutch replacement. All "U" codes are for information so can be disregarded unless they keep coming back.

It's a dual mass flywheel (DMF) which are nearly always knackered and you don't want to be doing this job again, so replace everything. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Well...... That was an absolute pig of a job!!
Gearbox out. had to remove the transfer case first.
Think it may need a clean before going back on.

The clutch was stuck to the flywheel and need to be unstuck to be removed!

Hopefully the clutch and new flywheel arrive today...
Had split the turbo bracket nut as it was seized.

Use only new flywheel and drive shaft bolts bolts!! And check the hydraulic damper on the inside of the tunnel that feeds the clutch hydraulics. Check too the exh crossover pipe now as well as you don't want to be going at this again!
You're going to need a decent pressure bleeder too as these can be a damnation to bleed thoroughly sometimes.
Oh, and one other thing is to remove the XYZ sensor, clean it and refit.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Firstly, appreciate the help and solutions offered. Thank you.
Well..... That was interesting!!
Everything went back together fairly straightforward.
Bleeding the clutch - What an absolute B$%^&£$d of a job.
Methods tried to bleed clutch.
1, pump pedal, hold, etc with single person system - FAIL
2, pump pedal, hold, etc with 2 people - FAIL
3, pump pedal, hold, etc with 2 people - FAIL
4, eazibleed system - FAIL
5, eazibleed system - PARTIAL FAIL - got the pedal off the floor and managed to get a tiny bit of a bite.
6, eazibleed with 2 people system - WIN - you have to overfill the reservoir before starting.
Now for the fault codes...

It needs to be a pressure bleeder, but you got there. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
