About to drill a hole in my locking diff motor - any advice?

2005 LR3 w/HD package

Over the past year I’ve been getting “Transmission Fault - Traction Reduced” on startup along with the P186D fault code more and more frequently until I’ve now got to the point of it happening every time. In the past it seemed to get stuck on occasion and a quick cycle of the ignition took care of it. It would also occasionally happen while off road and pushing it to the point it needed to engage. I’ve used the GAP tool to recalibrate and it’s changed the behavior slightly but no fix. I read on a Range Rover forum of a guy who drilled a small hole in the motor body and shot some lube in there and it resolved his issue. Before I replace the motor I want to give this a shot does anyone have any good/crazy ideas or useful tips on how I should do this?

Few questions:

-Where should I drill?
-Will lithium grease or other lubes cause electrical failure?
-Any others good ideas?

P186D is easily resolved with a software update that was created in form of TSB back in 2008.In locking diff, clutch pack would randomly, partially lock causing 186 D fault code to appear. This sometimes involved replacing a Diff locking motor.

I actually did this as well. Didn’t resolve unfortunately. This is my last ditch effort before replacing the motor
