Rear drop links.

Hi all, I need to replace the drop links and was wondering if I need any special tools for the job.
Also how hard is it to do?

Ironic but I've got same job later. My rear lhs has snapped and it seems to be playing havoc with the air suspension as that corner is going higher and the system seems to be trying to compensate and causing all sorts of faults. I hope it's this lol. I'll know once I get new ones fitted.

Having replaced one would suggest detaching the toe link to give access (18mm socket) and get a 3 inch dia angle grinder, it makes it so much easier than using a 4 inch.
 Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

Can I get access to the top of the link without taking the top wishbone balljoint/camber bolt nut off,?
The ARB and broken part of link is on underside of the upper arm...i can prize THE ARB down a bit but can I jack under the bottom hub area to raise the top away a bit so I can get the grinder in. Sus in normal mode but won't drop to access which may have helped

I changed my OSR drop link a few days ago, to get top one off/out I used a 4 inch grinder with a slititng disc and the guard removed, fitted well and very quick, watch for brake pipe/wires etc!
I only removed the wheel (obviously) for access, everything else stayed in place.

Thanks for the replies, I’ll try to get it off tomorrow and hopefully the new ones will be here on Tuesday.
Got its mot on Thursday, so fingers crossed.

Hi there, mine is snapped too, I noticed it shortly after it’s last mot, been a busy year! To be honest I haven’t noticed any difference in the car.

Just finished mine in the glorious weather...not.
Pig of a job, luckily top arm is only 4mths old so did take top bolt out to lever it up.
I would not have wanted to do this without an angle grinder. Really awkward access, on top of link to arb. Another hour and I'd have been Dr David banner...

Well that took me two hours to get it off, not too bad really, at least when the new one comes it will be easier to put back on.

New drop link went on without any fuss and the car flew through the mot today for the fourth year in a row, not even any advisory’s. Feeling well chuffed, what a great motor. Thanks for the advice.
