I will double check tomorrow but i think I need to the thicker hose that attaches to this one.

If it is just the seal around either end of the thicker hose, is that something that can be cleaned up and resealed without having to replace? That sealant stuff looks like it hardens pretty good!

Yeah that's the pipe, but clean up the mess down there first and satisfy yourself it's that joint which is actually leaking, and not from the hose above it or elsewhere. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Will do Thanks. I'll report back in tomorrow. Assuming it is the rubber hose section (fingers crossed), what sealant do I need to use when putting it back on?

If it's the rubber pipe there is no need for a sealant. If its the seal on the end of the metal pipe where it connects to the EGR, it's just a very thin smear of grease on the seal, but put on a new seal if that's where the leak is. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

So I am now thinking this is leaking at the bottom of the metal pipe where it joins the EGR. This pipe isn't sold separately and I can't see a specific gasket for it anywhere either. It is also odd that it only has one bolt holding it in place. The pipe must have something protruding beyond the other side of the bracket that sits inside the EGR cooler I guess so rotation not possible?
Anyway, if this isn't sold separately then I can either buy second hand and try to swap out the pipe (with unknown connection i.e. with/without gasket that I can't buy new) or swap the whole assembly.
New ones cost around £620. Bit confusing also because there are OEM options for cheaper with the same part code of LR018752 but they seem to just be the valve.
Also swapping the whole assembly out looks like a bit of a ball ache job, but can't see any other option right now.

I didn't think the pipe would be available separately. Pick up a cheap second hand unit and fit the pipe from that. To be honest though it's unlikely the pipe itself has failed and more likely to be the seal.
Have a used one to hand before you begin the repair just in case the bolt snaps! Unlikely, but it can happen!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Great minds ...
This is exactly what I have done. Bought a used one from ebay last night where the pipe looked clean/undamaged for £25! Most going for around £70ish but as I just want if for the pipe, I thought it was worth the punt. At least I can see if there is some sort of gasket or not.
If that doesn't work then I guess I have the bigger job of replacing the whole EGR cooler. I'll take a look at both valves to see which one looks cleaner and put that one on. I've looked at how to replace the whole cooler and to be honest and I am not looking forward to it! So praying the pipe swap will do the job.

So, received my donor EGR. Pretty clean pipe and bolt. Removed the bolt without issue. Damned if I can remove the pipe though. It is stuck fast! I guess this may be some kind of sealant used that hardens? As it only has one bolt I tried to rotate the pipe by giving the bolt hole part several good wacks! But no luck. I guess I can just go in harder at the risk of breaking it, but wondered if anyone had any ideas of what my help break that seal so I can remove the pipe.

The one on the donor used EGR I just bought from the bay. Thought I would try to remove that first to see what I'm dealing with before touching the one on the car.

Maybe a bit of direct heat but not too much! I've never had to remove that pipe so I can't say for sure what it's assembly characteristics are.
You could always try swapping the entire unit but the integrity of the donor one is unknown. Even so, try a little gas and see if it will start to budge but I'd say try to keep under 140°C if you can.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

So I had the car in at Dartford Transmissions today for a trans flush and new oil in all the diffs. I asked them if they would take a look if they had time and they managed to get the donor pipe free from the cooler and swap out the old one, along with some sealant for good measure. Really nice guys there btw.
There wasn't a gasket on as it happens, it is an interference fit so they probably did use heat to release and refit (forgot to ask).
Looks to have sorted it but I'll be keeping my eye on the coolant levels still for the next week to be sure.
