You will have to check the 2 pins to the starter relay. See which one is at fault.
One is driven from gearbox. Other from eng ecu. IIRC
Also momentary bypass relay with ignition on and see if crank sensor now works and starts

The one in the plastic case on the + battery terminal.
Starter should still click though
Pete ive read an older post you wrote to Jonathan crisp. It looks a similar issue to mine so will check this out tomorrow.
Maybe the gearbox removal/ refit is a red herring I'll follow your post With Jon as its good logical faultfindingMike

Hi Pete
Checked this morning and recorded
12.65v on pin 3
0 on pin five
Bridged this an starter operated ok
But recorded next to nothing on pins 1 and 2
0.01 and 0.03 respectively.
Unfortunately I could not open the link for you previously posted wiring diagramMike

So assuming the engine ecu is awake, imboliser satisfied, and key held in crank position, the UR Blue/Red (or purple as it looks on diagram) will connect to a good ground signal (in the engine ECU) to activate the relay.
The relay coil input from the left should be:
Automatic: GO Green/Orange +12v with the ignition on and gear selector in P or N
Manual: WR White/Red +12v when the key is held in crank position

I think you need to try this from the other thread.
This then proves the gearbox input is ok or not
Quote:
You could also try turning on the ignition
monitoring pin 1 of the relay.
Should be 11V according to you.
Then moving the gear selector to D
Does it go to 0V ?

I would:
Put the gearbox in P
turn the ignition on
bypass the relay.
If the engine starts, at least it proves the engine ecu has power and is awake

I checked the no 1 terminal but no signal on any position.
I the followed your advice and tried to start but although cranked did not start.
I use a faultmate 2 for diagnostics but I can connect to engine ecu but it will not connect to Transmission ecu.Mike

Try removing and cleaning the gearbox wiring connector it might just be a bad connectionAndrew

Looks like I may have found the issue.
Looks like water damage to the gear selector plug and circuit board. Problem is getting a replacementMike
