Deisel Automatic Fuel Consumption |
|
Hi All,
I know there is a thread on general fuel consumption, but I found that it got too diverse to get meaningful info from it
Can anyone with a Deisel Auto post the fuel compsumption they are getting, and an indication of the type of driving done (Urban, Motorway or mixed)
When I first got my Disco3 in March 2006, I got typically 27 MPG mixed driving, but it has steadily dropped to typically 23 mixed. On a long run I might just get 27, but not normally, and my driving mix is much the same.
This would be a useful hint as to whether there is something wrong, as I can't rely on the main dealers -(except to charge a fortune for a service!)
I normally have to tell THEM what is wrong and tell them about service bulletins etc!
Thanks
Andy

With scorpions, on twisting, narrow rural roads (like your main roads ), A-roads and dual carriageway, I'm getting 25-26. On a motorway run keeping it below 75 it's 28-29. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Same here, key is keeping below 75, push to 75-80 and the consumption really starts to drop.
Lowest seen on the fuel computer is 9.9mpg but highest is 999.9.... Cheers

gauge in the LCD panel is like a weather vane....not very accurate....the only way of getting a true value for overall fuel consumption is to brim the tank & record the distance between fills. If you do this you see just how dodgy the instantaneous value displayed.
My VW Golf + DSG in comparison is very accurate...it has two values to display...rapid update figue (a bit like the D£ one) &an average value which when compared with distance & volume used data is very accurate....by my data a couple of percent error. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I'm not generally into all of this MPG worry stuff ..it does what it does relative to the way I drive TBH ...but has anyone monitored the reduction of mpg due to engine idle time .The reason I ask is that I have a Mitsubishi Grandis as a company vehicle for the gaff and I noticed the other day while waiting for one of my bods that the average mpg reduced by .3mpg on tickover just while I was sat there ...over around 30 minutes. Does anyone take idling into account?? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
