1k km's on mine and currently getting around 11l.100 with mixed driving and taking it a bit easy during the week (city style). Wife called the other night while driving our D3 and said it was sluggish.............I think it has remapped itself, so I am currently CORRECTING this..........If you see a Stornoway Gray in the South Melb area and are thinking about pulling out in front of it, I would suggest otherwise..........In the name of corrections of course! Picked up my new MY08 Stornaway TDV6 SE late Feb. FULLY STOKED! Thanks in advance for all the advice/tips you guys have shared on here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2006 tdv6 SE auto and get an average of 24.5mpg
If anything, I think fuel consumption has dropped by about 1-2 mpg since new.
I drive pretty gently, usually keep revs below 2000, and rarely drive above 75mph
My driving is pretty much dual carriageway and free flowing A roads.(very little time in stopped traffic)
On a purely motorway run, have gotten 28-29mpg average, but for regular commuting, the lower figure is pretty much the norm.
Don't listen to those guys who claim averages of 30mpg + for every day driving.....they aren't driving D3'S!
I don't know why people insist on telling such tall stories.....does it make them feel better? 2006 TDV6 SE Auto :- Buckingham Blue with Alpaca

Mine sits at 22.4mpg driving it like a grandad But I don't want to drive it fast as it means I'll have to get out of it sooner

Just filled mine up and worked out the MPG it is only 17.36 - I'm only doing urban mileage and a lot of short journeys at the moment but that is seriously low. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

I do mainly urban driving, dropping kids to school and short journies to customers through pretty heavy traffic and return about 21mpg. On a run of any distance it picks up to 27ish. If I select gears manually through the auto box I can get up to 30mpg on country roads, but who can be bothered.
All in all I think the D3 is just about the best car/limo/van/people carrier I've ever had despite the fuel consumption costs.

Never gets below 23 SPG (me driving locally, country roads, bit of motorway, loadsa welly)
or above 31 SPG (Wifey driving, mostly motorway)
Tried different types of diesel, doesnt seem to make a difference to MPG but can improve SPG
(SPG = Smiles Per Gallon ) There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

at 25mpg I think my brakes must be binding, my EGR must be stuck or my intercooler is blocked . Or all three I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Brum, your logic is impeccable! However, try driving faster and go the long way round Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

Reminds me of this advice:
Think logical about it, when is the risk of being invovled in a crash the highest: when you drive once from A to B or when you drive 25 times from A to B?
Clearly, its when you drive 25 times from A to B => the longer you're on the road, the higher the risk.
Consequently, to reduce the risk you should - at all times - drive as fast as possible!*)
*) of course observing all relevant laws and regulations in the process...

Well after a trip from
Motorway mainly:
Teddington (London) to Folkstone via the M25, M26 and M20 at 70mph maximum, I am doing 33mpg
From Calais to Fontainebleau (South East Paris) via A16, A1, A104, A5 at 90mph I am doing 24.8mpg.
By the way this trip has been done when normal poeple (daughter and Wife)are sleeping, therefore we did not had any trafficjums...
When I am doing the office trip, when the engine is very cold, the mpg is dropping around 21mpg.
See you soon Arno
