I don't have a problem with democracy per se. The justification for the decision to take it down was that HMTQ represents the "...recent colonial history of Great Britain", with I assume they view as A Bad Thing and is the element with which I'd disagree. I'd say that the 'recent colonial history' was giving all the ex-colonies independence (A Good Thing, surely?), with HMTQ personally investing a lot of time and interest in The Commonwealth - building relationships and understanding between the ex-colonies (A Good Thing, surely?). Given that British colonialism spanned 450 years (good and bad), I suppose "recent" is moot.

What I find of interest is the BLM movement. Extremely quiet on the Sasha Johnson issue now that the suspects are black.
Lefties on Twitter are silent on the subject. Not up in arms and no political agenda axe to grind. Apparently, or maybe in this instance a BLM is not that important as no witnesses are coming forward.
Maybe we need some virtual signaling for the left to feel justified and offended.....

Oxford students are not, in my opinion, a true reflection of society. Although it’s fair to say that it’s not as elitist as it once was.
