Hi
My microphone was removed from the car and the wires cut just behind the satnav, I wish to replace the microphone is there any specific microphone I should be buying?, also I assume it would be just as easy to connect back up to the existing wires but the colour codes would need to be addressed.
The steering wheel speech button is OK and works when pressed and you can hear the message " no speech detected ".
I know which wires they are as i asked with pictures on this forum and it was pointed to me they were microphone wires.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Thanks for the link
I presume the mic is in the light fitting then I thought it was a separate entity placed somewhere else by the mirror.
If that's the casei will take my light off and see if the mic is still in there pete truckle

The mic is a black round disc behind one of the 2 vents. In light surround

I replaced a section of my red mic wire to get it to work but I still get 'no speech detected' from the talky switch on the lhs of the wheel. It might be because of my accent 2016 D4 SDV6 Landmark

Hi
Can you enlighten me please,I am sure that the microphone in the roof light consols is not the microphone but a speaker
I sat here thinking when I activate the speak switch on the steering wheel, we get a response through the speaker "no voice detected"
Well it is quite obvious it won't dectect a voice if the microphone is missing!!!
So the microphone must be situated somewhere else
I have seen it is or could be placed on the left hand side below the dashboard instruments in a small vent.
The link you sent me to a microphone on ebay is actually a speaker even though its listed as a microphone.
I need to investigate further.
On another note can anyone help with this diod which is also in the roof light facia I presume it is a flashing red alarm light but not sure anyway it is dead so a replacement is needed.
I have checked the three numbers on it and it will just locate the plastic housings,so any help on this would be appreciated.

The mic is the black disc
That led diode is to light the gear selector at night, when headlights on. Just a little! It’s white.
It may work! I wouldn’t bother replacing it!

Ok I will look into the mic situation behind the radio where the wires were originally cut.
As for the diode it can go back in the part box till whenever.
Thanks again

What I meant to say was, don’t get a new led.
But if it works, you can refit to the car.

Can the factory mic be wired to an aftermarket radio? If you cut the wires and convert them to the 3.5mm jack will it work?

It may I do not see any problems a Mike is a Mike depends on the power needed on the Mike to the none factory radio ,I bought a USB/Mike auxiliary lead a long one and it works great turn on ignition radio on auxiliary tells you are connected receives calls plays Alexa music ,directions from maps basically anything your phone can do it does on my original karmen fitted radio cd player.
The best bit is the USB has a Mike so it picks up your voice commands if your phone say is in your pocket or glove box.
A few quid and all sorted see link PALOVUE Bluetooth 5.0 Receiver with Qualcomm CSR, Wireless Car Kit for Music Streaming and Hands-Free Calling for Car/Home Stereo with 3.5mm Aux Port, No Charging Needed, LinkFlow https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08F74CFM7/ref...&psc=1 pete truckle
