I!d up wattage rating as high as you can within budget, not sure what wattage lights you're putting in but always best to put the larger cables etc in on first fit so you don’t need to upgrade the whole harness when you see those “OMG their gorgeous!” 500w spot lights that you can’t do without next year 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Could just fit 2 single looms. Would that be ok taking them both to a single switch and single signal trigger wire? formerly Disco3Ben

Great Job. Genius tip on removing the existing 12v at the rear and replacing it with a voltmeter to see the state of charge for main battery! Would have never thought of that !

Evening Kevin,
If you have a link to a heavy duty loom for the light bars then I’d really appreciate it.
I can’t get an answer out of a supplier I’ve been chasing!!
Many thanks

Hi Ben, I fitted this one
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-40A-LED-Wor...890.l49292
30amp fused, and supposedly good up to 500w, saying that, my 520w light bar went on it, and I measured the amperage at around 3amp so plenty of spare capacity. 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Perfect!
Thanks very much.
And I could put 2 light bars with that loom couldn’t I? As long as I wasn’t near the max capacity of the loom?

It’s only got the end plugs for 1, but you could tie in for the second as long as you want them both switched on at the same time. 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Cigarette lighter in the rear |
|
KevinD3
Hi I have now completed my TMax 2nd battery installation and have been following your fitting.
I was hoping after the battery switched over to the leisure battery after turning off the ignition I was hopeful maybe a bit naively I suppose, I might be able to use my rear cigarette lighter running off the leisure battery but this is not the case, I need the ignition on one turn of the key,I always thought this was a permanent live at the rear cigarette lighter but obviously not,is there anyway of using the live feed to the rear cigarette lighter as a feed to a panel made up of a USB connection, a cigarette lighter, and an on/off switch?
The panel is already made up and just needs the live and earth connected to it.
Hope this query is understandable.
Thanks for any input.
Regards

Hi Trucks, I’d advise running a fresh direct cable from the battery to the boot, min 60amp, but go for 100amp if possible as that will cover you later for when you want to start running fridges, flood lights and 50inch tv’s from it later down the road
For the moment, if you’re only running a single cig plug and usb, you could tie into the tow electrics, pre wired sockets will be behind the trim at the left side rear light. Think they’re rated to 10amp and a number of guys connect their chargers through the tow electrics so are definitely live feeds.
You don’t want to try to run much off them, and it will affect your ability to use them for actually towing.
Btw, hoping to finish all he electrics on Friday as long as my calendar doesn’t suddenly fill up with conference calls 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

wow that was quick and thank you
all i want to do is run is a small magnetic lamp (size of a tractor ploughing lamp but not as powerful)on a short lead with a cigarette lighter attachment and the usb for say a tablet or mobile phone.
i do not use the towing electrics at all,but if i tap off those connections behind the panel will the power be used off the starting battery or the leisure battery.
Basically that was the plan anyway.
cheers

Towing electrics are connected to the main battery, but live feed, not sure how the t-max works, but doesn’t It allow you to feed the main batt from the aux? If that’s the case it should be ok. I’d still suggest running a dedicated fused cable at some point though, as re-purposing stuff can potentially lead to issues in the long term, as I said, especially when your demand increases due to it being so handy having the power in the back. 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey
