After checking everything it seems the sunroof drain is blocked.
Having looked at you tube there seems a quick fix, use a thin wire and gently push it down the drain from the top to clear it .
Has anyone done this does it work or will it cause other problems, I'm nervous of making things worse..
I have just received a new drain tube - any tips on fitting it please?
Thanks in advance.

Looking at the age of your D3 the elbows will be rotten, so rather than do the job twice, get a pair of upgraded elbows and replace them. The drivers side is easy and the passenger side will make you swear
There are lots of photos on here and a few good YouTube videos.
Old vs New
Just received my new drain tube (driver's side) this morning and wrestled into place - the old one was falling apart. No wonder the floor was always soaking wet :-/

Would you have a part number for new one please?
I did a new driver's side tube today - the old one was completely perished and literally fell apart.

Dry carpet at last
Although the carpet is strangely slightly damp in the middle, I think it's finally drying out.

A top tip when fitting too - I pushed a nice fitting piece of tube (about 7") into the elbow and pointed it out of the car via the intake. when the tube appeared, I pushed down on the drain pipe above and with long-nosed pliers, I pulled on the inserted tube and it just snapped into place
