power to ceiling console??
So im going to run power to a roof console that i have brought for my discovery 3 which will power a CB radio, 4 side mounted led lights and a set of strobe lights. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting power up to the roof/above the headlining? (will fuse it before goes up into the roof) will need 20amps theoretically but i may just take 30amps up there in case i need something else in future.
I am taking wires out onto the roof via a marine deck cable grommet and 7pin trailer cable as i cable as i can run all the seperate lights on seperate wires.
Appriciate any advise from the guys on here?

I personally would pick up the power from the courtesy light and use that for the light switch power and have the actual lights fed through a relay powered in the rear boot cubby. This is more or less what I have done. Then tge feed to the lights goes out of the rear light and up to the roof rack.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

You cant feed a 20amp supply from the interior light feed.
I would come directly from the battery through the grommet behind the battery and then up the A pillar making sure you follow the other wiring keeping it away from airbags.Andrew

Could you not use the local ceiling power to switch the individual circuit relays/ceiling mounted switch’s and then single multi core cable (as suggested) run direct to roof from fused distribution box in engine compartment?RLD CB Bracket

You could then fuse individual circuits to correct load and be much safer.... in my opinion 😉RLD CB Bracket

I wasn't suggesting run the 20A supply from the light, I was suggesting you pick up a feed for the switch to control a relay and this would take a minimal load. I dont know what power the CB is hence I didnt suggest that was connected to the courtesy light. However, if the load for the CB was low enough you could potentially swap the courtesy light lamps (bulbs) for LEDs and it may be enough of a reduction in load on that circuit to allow for the CB, but I doubt it.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

You would only need a relay if the load exceeds 10 amps for the lights the CB will have its own on off switch.
Personally i would fit an ignition switched relay under the bonnet and take the power from the battery that way you cant leave the lights or CB on by accident and flatten the battery.Andrew
