[TDV6] Gray/white smoke under load

Dear All,

I would like to ask for an advice - from some time my D3 (MY2008, TDV6) blows a lot of grayish/white smoke while under heavy load (mostly while starting from halt, but also while accelerating at the lower speeds - however not necessarily at the higher speeds [or at least I have not noticed]).

The smoke appeared a couple of months ago, at the beginning it was not excessive, now it blows a lot.

My mechanic did a preliminary check and the results so far are:
- The engine is running smoothly, there are no noises or unexpected sounds
- No errors in computer
- EGRs are most likely fine (no errors and they were replaced to brand new last year)
- Injectors are most likely fine (no errors, same dose of fuel at all six)
- Perhaps there is a slight decrease in power - I am not 100% sure about that, since it may be only my paranoia (i.e. I have a feeling that I need to accelerate more to not cut off the engine while starting uphill)

I would appreciate any guidance on what should be investigated further - at this moment, my mechanic has no ideas. I believe it is better to consult it here before he would dismantle the engine to look for any other causes.

Thank you in advance!

Could be an injector over fueling you need to get it on diagnostics and look at the live values

Thumbs Up May be injector spray pattern, try a good dose of 2 stroke oil in the fuel, 200/1 mix, Injector live values can be read with an IID tool on a D3.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks guys!

But that was actually checked - he did a full diagnostic of injectors (everything you can do with a computer, without pulling them off - all parameters seemed to be normal/identical at all of the injectors).

What should be added is that there may be consumption of oil (after a second update from the mechanic). But again, it is hard to tell - I have replaced oil ca. 4000kms ago, now it dropped to the lower values and required ~1l to be refilled. That is the direction the mechanic wants to explore - but perhaps you would have other ideas? I will also ask him to double-check the injectors.

I have not known used Injectors to be identical, there is usually a slight variation in quantity injected, bearing in mind the injector following an injector that is over or under fuelling will compensate to a degree.
It is also important that the spray patter is good, an injector spraying the correct amount in a pattern like a jet Not a spray will result in unburnt fuel and can over time cause internal damage, this is where 2SO may help by cleaning the injectors.

Thanks! That actually sounds very reasonable - will raise that to him on Monday. As mentioned earlier, today he did only a preliminary check, so the more detailed diagnose would follow. Also, appreciate any other tips/directions that may be worth checking.
