Excessive heat build up in each wheel |
|
Commuting to and from work - approximately 30 miles at motorway speeds - is causing each wheel to get almost too hot to hold my hand on when I arrive at work/home and as it all pointed to a sticking Caliper on at least one wheel I had them all checked out and subsequently the driver’s side rear was replaced. This seemed to briefly improve the situation but now every wheel seems to be getting very hot again and I am now hearing noises when the brakes are applied and a grinding noise, apparently from the o/s/front at low speeds. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be the problem(s) as there are no fault lights or error messages displayed on the dashboard?
I would really appreciate any advice anybody may have for me, as it is all starting to sound/feel very expensive to sort out!

start taking the front wheels off and see if the brake disc can be rotate easily. if not, the calliper is seized.
Then do the same on the rears. Achim

Sounds like all your calipers are sticking, They are about £50-60 each for the fronts and £30-40 for the rears. Not sure if you can do the work yourself but any decent garage/mechanic should be capable at less than main dealer prices?
Do you know when the brakes were last checked?

As it has happened before, remove the wheels and undo one of the caliper bolts to see if you can move the caliper easily (as though you were changing brake pads). If so, it may be a master cylinder problem, not letting fluid back after a brake application especially as it is on all four wheels.
