OK, pics time. Battling the firewall again, my free Expess VPN trail has ended and it’s not letting me sign up again. Big Cry Big Cry

Will bung them up & edit accordingly. And no, the first pic is not of the butt of a random Xi’an lady, it’s of the fish in the bag. It was fresh, still flapping fresh!! Shocked

Our first view of the walls around Xi’an, which we’ll see tomorrow. Somehow the advertising screen just fitted in. Round the corner is the bus station, complete with PLA chap standing so still we both thought he was a mannequin. Until he moved. Braver dude than me would take his pic.

TW time. Normal service bus there, avoided all the touts for more expensive “tourist” buses and we were there in an hour.

True bucket list stuff.

This is how they were found after initial excavation. All the “intact” soldiers were reconstructed from these remains after plundering, flooding, fire and collapse of the roof beams/roofing.

When you got go you got to go. Thumbs Up

All the above were from Pit 1, I only took one pic of Pit 2 which shows how it was discovered. I thought I took more. Evil or Very Mad The sags are where the roof has collapsed.

And a fully reconstructed archer.

Then back to Xi’an, about a 2 hour trip just in time to get scrubbed up for dinner. Thumbs Up

No more pics on my phone. I know I took far more pics in Pits 2 and 3 after the archer pic but they are not stored. SWMBO agreed as she had me take specific pics, SWMBO being ex archaeologist and has discerning standards in pics, me being just the photographer. Whistle

Great pics Del - well the ones you took and managed to save Whistle I would blame the equipment, after all it's never the operator's fault Laughing

The TW look a really awesome sight. I imagine even more impressive in real life.

Yes, Nanning is this side of the border in China. Not sure I’d want to go to a zoo in this part if the world, either here or in Vietnam. Shocked Shocked It’s going to be a fun overnight train to Hanoi as there are very long stops for the immigration/customs formalities. Plus it’ll be hot. We’ve been wandering around today in 14c, Nanning is at 28c and Hanoi up at 32c. Many buckets will be sweated until we get acclimatised. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
