Welcome Sparkysteve.
My last D2 had ACE, my D4 doesn’t. The D4 handles way better anyway.
My assumption is that the D3/4 don’t need ACE as they are fully air suspended, and the setup of the airbags more than compensates for no ACE. I don’t know, but I imagine that the system basically replicates ACE by controlling the pressure in the airbags on each side independently - that’s certain,y how it feels when driving.
The change from the D2 platform to the D3 one brought some radically different handling, making ACE obsolete IMO.King of the typo.
MY11 D4 5.0 V8, Bournville, lots of goodies!
Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

I still reckon the way a D2 can corner pretty much flat with its tyres howling is damned impressive, whereas the D3 is a barge

I'm just waiting for the thread when somebody asks if you can replace the TDV6 with a 300Tdi......I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Can you???
I used to have a D2 V8 SE with ACE. I thought it was good, unless you changed direction too quickly, then it could't keep up. Driving round a very big roundabout, the ACE would load up against the tilt, until you turn quickly to exit the roundabout, the ARB would be loaded in the wrong direction. Made for some interesting handling characteristics!
Still, I did enjoy the D2Richard
