Strange raspy noise !!

It is the Torque Convertor, the noise is something to do with the torque from the engine coming on and off from the main shaft, possible also some to do with the lockup in the torque convertor....not cheap, and some garages want to take the body off to do it....
Mine noise stopped after TC change

My TC was £450 all in for a re-furb. They are now charging £500 I think.

Small firm in Keighley...... cost me more in diesel and hotels but still cheaper than anywhere else i could find who have a good rep James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

yep they did it, it isnt like a landrover show room but nice guys and did a good job.

Not sure what they will charge now but have done a few D3's on here James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

Just an update

Had the jeep in with a gearbox specialist this morning. He drove it and ran a diagnostic check. He is very confident it is not gearbox / torque converter related.

Suggested looking at the piping see if there is anything obvious loosely connected or split.

Would have thought that would of knocked and engine light on but hopefully I dodged a big bill for now!!
