Hi buddy
The aircon is yet another thing that is currently not working
Paid for a full regas shortly after purchase of the vehicle and within 2 days the system had lost all its gas so its on the to do list
Is the aircon and gearbox linked from an oil point of view on these vehicles or is it about having a certain load on the engine at idle speed when checking the oil level ?
It
it raises the revs slightly and funny enough i only noticed the aircon has to be on the other day when i read through the refil instructions

The butterfly has not been removed when the EGR blanking was done (prior to me purchasing the vehicle)
I paid for the EGR delete where they change the ecu programme
I will remove it this evening, reconnect the intercooler pipe and see if its what is causing the over pressure
Thanks
i just took my time when blanking the egrs and removing the butterfly valve , longest bit was cleaning the throttle body out
urs is a 2005 isn’t it, from what i’ve read u don’t need an egr patch software until 2007 onwards
good the comma oil ok and u get in ok
plse update us how u get on

be surprised if the butterfly being present, causes the IC pipe to blow off.
When you refit the pipe, give the IC part and inside of hose a clean with petrol or similar to ensure the surfaces aren't slippery.

hi pete
i would also be very interested if that would indeed cause the ic hose coming off
another reason i bought some of the T clamps
trying to work out , if from the turbo if that’s what the cross over pipe is for, to carrry the air from the turbo then into the engine , then where it tees at the turbo for the intercooler pipe that goes towards the intercooler is a positive or negative side ???
i should get my coat

I found the atf fill plug was just as tight to remove the second time as it was the first time, as I only flushed the atf oil out on the first occasion, then 3 months later I replaced the pan and filter and IMHO the fill plug was harder to remove on the second occasion than the first.
I wouldn't completely rule out that the fluid and pan have not been replaced by the tightness of the ATF fill plug.
Secondly, I cut the atf filter/pan in half, along the cross section, to check the state of the filter, and there was zero sign of gunk or crude on the up stream side off the filter, and imho it most likely did not need repalcing. My car has never been used for heavy towing etc and has 100k miles on it.

Off topic. but the "cross over pipe" carries exhaust gasses from the right side of the engine.
It combines with exhaust gasses from the left side of the engine and this spins the turbo around, and then the exhaust gasses go out the exhaust.
Air goes into the engine at the top.
P.S I cut my AT filter open. There was a picture in the FILO thread. Some very small metal particles visible.

Hi guys
so removed butterfly, cleaned the throttle housing with gunk, obviously removed the map sensor etc
refitted and have reconnected the inter-cooler pipes and tightened the jubilee clips as tight as possible
put everything back together
started the disco and "engine system fault" is being displayed
tried reading the codes but i only have one of the cheap Bluetooth ODB readers which reads some of the live data from the engine but it is not picking any codes up
Tried a hard reset
started the engine again and "Engine system fault" again
if the MAP sensor is faulty would that give this message?

Yeap map sensor will throw up lots of dash messages.
So if only 1 might not be that.
Did u poke its hole?
Did u unplug anything else?

hi pete
i poked the hole in the map sensor slightly just to up plug the crap that was in the hole not right into the hole though
the MAP has been unplugged, the sensor in the pod that connects to the throttle body has been unplugged and cleaned with brake cleaner and i cleaned the MAF with brake cleaner too when i was reassembling everything

I guess you should unplug it check connector pins look ok and refit
i don't think the sensor on the air filter box likes being messed with

the live data the ODB was reading was showing MAF reading, intake air temp reading and boost readings so i am a bit confused as to why the fault has suddenly appeared
although if its anything like the 3 defenders i have had it will decide to something completely different tomorrow and the fault will never come back again !
Bloody landrovers

Wouldn't expect temp to change.
I guess you need to have it read on a good reader or take a gamble on replacing something
