oil leakage from top left side of engine LR3 - 2005 v8

Dear All

I notice oil leakage from top left side of engine LR3 - 2005 v8, picture below

Any idea what sensor is it? How to solve this? Shall we replace any kind of O-ring here only?
Thanks

Hi .
This is a VVT solenoid sensor that is leaking.Actually what is leaking is a rubber O ring, that surrounds it.
Easy fix if you are careful and contrary to a popular belief , you don't have to remove a the whole VVT cover to replace just a small rubber piece. Sadly , LR does not sell a O ring separately, but if you look online you can source a Jaguar part , for the same engine , that IS sold individually. I will try to find a part number for you. Try to order two O rings as you will get a leak on the other side of engine as well as there is another VVT sensor that gives oil over time , it is just wear and tear item .Seals dry out and compromise integrity, that's all.

Here is a JAGUAR part number :
AJ82856
After you get it, it is simply a matter of disconnecting a harness on top of VVT solenoid and then carefully pry out the old seal with a small screwdriver, going around it slowly until one edge is high enough to remove it. Wipe oil clean, Slide a new O rubber seal in , reconnect harness, job done.
