MY AUX input doesn't work

Settled in to listen to some Archers Podcasts on my drive to work but with the iPhone plugged into the Aux socket I got no sound . Had to listen to a Megadeth CD instead.

Does the AUX need to be activated or is it simply broken?

Silly question - but did you try turning volume right up? My phone needs to be on top volume, and then volume still needs turning up in the radio

to see if there are wires there? If I'm taking of that trim I might as well run a new cable and fit a socket in a more useful place on the dash.

Yes you can do that by tapping into the loom there are a few posts on here about doing it and then you can have the existing socket and the new socket Thumbs Up

Are you using a good quality cable or a Pound shop special?

Yes if it's says aux on screen when button pressed but it may have been taken out or perhaps pulled out on accident start with the easiest thing for you to do which I would say is have a look on passenger footwell then look at the back of the socket you may be able to get the socket out to check first Thumbs Up
