Hi guys this might shed some light on the discussion.
Tinted vehicle windows: the law
The rules for tinted front windscreens and front side windows depend on when the vehicle was first used. There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.
Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later
The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.

In all fairness noticing the difference between 20 & 25% is difficult and therefore unlikely you'll get stopped for the tint.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders
True but IIRC the front windows are just about at the legal limit when they leave the factory so any added tint pushes them beyond that.I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Neil, go and visit Pentagon, they will guide you as to whether you can legally put any more tint on, they won't do anything illegal, they made that clear to me both times I went to them for mine.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

And if you do want them done, there is a lad in Dundee who will do them while your EPB is being sorted

There may also be a reason for the legal limit. We may not be 18 year old Corsa drivers but we do have 2.7 tons of high speed metal to control.
I used to ride a bike and had a (now illegal) tinted visor. Was great on sunny days. if I was out at night, I switched for a clear visor. But occasionally I got caught out and had to ride home with the tinted visor in the dark. That wasn't nearly so clever, on unlit roads I had to leave the visor up.
And at least I could change the visor, or carry a spare. On a car, you're unlikely to keep changing your windscreen. If you do go for extra tinting, at least make sure you drive on some unlit country roads before you commit.

In the UK, no. But I see that you're in the USA, and I have no idea what the laws are there with regard to window tints.
