There was one more option the dealer was keen on: body care. It is a £429 option, so hardly the most expensive, but would help bring the car under a key price point for us if we dropped it, but we don't want to make a false economy.
Thanks again.

Electric seats are not about ease of use or extra adjustment... it's the armrests that come with them. Wouldn't be a proper disco without armrests!

Don't bother with the In Control App. If it is anything like the one on the L494 it is a total waste of money.
I may get better over the coming years but, at present, it is dire......

Don't bother with paint protection. All dealer will do is give the washing monkey a bottle of Supagaurad or the likes and get them to slosh it on. It won't be done properly and you'll have paid a fortune for a bad job. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres

The extras the dealer will try to sell you like paint protection, tyre insurance and gap are all grossly overpriced, out of the three I would only take gap insurance but you will get it cheaper by shopping around. If it is still available the service contract could save you some money over the years Cheers Ian

expensive add-ons if you purchase the 'insurances' - but you are dammed if you need to claim and then didn't tick the box.
I had two punctures on my rears (on my drive) very recently. One was repaired but the other tyre was beyond repair and I had major problems getting two 20" Pirelli 255/50 in the whole of East Anglia.
The tyre insurance is warranted by any vat registered business - but after spending three hours calling around every outlet, I was told it would be days for a tyre replacement. The dealer, swapped a new wheel and tyre for me on a Saturday morning and said they would claim the tyre back. All it cost me was £10 excess. Brilliant service and I would have been stuffed without the insurance - and well out of pocket!
By the way - the warranty only covers Land Rover Assurance coming out and changing the spare wheel - NOT the tyre. As I had a mounted box in the back of my D4 and two flats, the spare wheel was redundant in any case. IMHO, tick the box.
As for the paint protection, just say no. My local hand car wash did it over a weekend and made a brilliant job of it for £95, including the valet. No warranty supplied but who cares - I can have it done every 18 months and be quids in.
GAP and RTI or retail protection are all a personal choice. I've paid thousands over the years for it on all of my cars and never had to claim - yet.
My sunroof doesn't leak - full length rails look better - electric seats are a must (heated ones and the heated steering wheel!) - the infotainment system and APPs are a disgrace and outdated technology.
As previously mentioned - have an independent fix your towbar.

Something to consider re towbars.
If fitted by manufacturer from new no problem regards insurance. If fitted aftermarket I have come across Insurers who consider such a retro fit towbar to be a "modification" with possible premium adjustment. May or may not be a problem for you.

[quote="Dannyson"]Extended roof rails 'finish' the car and make it look 'complete' as does side steps!!
Couldn't agree more with the above.
Electric seats are much better. Had manual on my D3 and every time I exited the car the side of my leg/thigh/bum cheek would adjust the seat downwards. This became a real pain.
Sunroofs are a no-no in the Disco for me. My wife is recovering from SQ cell facial surgery and there is no adequate sun blind. Very cheap and cheerful on the part of LR. Other cars have a blind which becomes part of the roof lining. Then of course there the leaks.

going slightly off topic - has anyone worked a fix for the heated steering wheel to come on alongside the FBH fob?
