Replacing ignition transceiver
The ignition transceiver on my Disco does not light up and there have been and continue to be problems with the keys, as the car has keyless entry when ever you get close to the car it unlocks itself.
I have found and purchased a replacement transceiver from MMJ with the hope this will help solve the problem.
Any ideas or to remove the steering column covers to get to the transceiver??

Hi Robbie
Yes, I know it is very strange. But I have had problems with both keys and since then the car has been doing some funny things.
My local LRO specialist tried to reprogram a new key and since then it has been unlocking itself as I approach the car with the key.
I have also had fun and games with Land Rover as they sent out a batch of faulty replacement keys and to save the chip from the original key I had to purchase a £12.00 case from eBay and replace myself. At least this has saved me £170.00.
I hav noticed that since having problems with the keys the green light around the ignition does not light up and I considered replacing this part and found a used transceiver on MMJ, just wandering now how to fit and see if this will solve this problem!!!

Sorry, but still stuck at the point where you said you have keyless entry on a D3.
Are you sure you own a D3?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Yes of course i own a D3 just a very rare one with keyless entry which is as a result of a problem with the key.

when i mean keyless i don't have to press the remote button to unlock the car but i do notice there is one long solid flash of the indicators when unlocking rather than the usual quick flash.
Also every time I get into the car the wing mirrors have reset themselves and despite pressing the memory button etc each time this still keeps happening and this is annoying. It remembers the seat position but not for the wing mirrors.

I think you had better start again, from the beginning. It is not 1st of April yet It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The transceiver shouldn't affect unlocking the doors, it's purpose is to identify the transponder in your key and confirm the right key is being used to start the engine. If the wrong transponder is used the car won't start.
If the light in yours isn't working it is likely the bulb has just blown.
As for the permanent 'unlock signal' from your key/s ??????????? Does it happen with both keys?
