I must admit I was never a fan until I started to look for my Discovery and then quickly decided it was a must have extra.
My dealer currently has two very nice nearly new D4's, but without the privacy glass I feel they just don't look right, nor did the loan one I had a couple of weeks ago.Andy

I didn't get the choice, can't say I like it. Having not had it for 10 years, nobody died of heat exhaustion and I live in the sunny south not the frozen bloody north. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

If it's done right you wouldn't tell the difference, only by finding the edge of the film on the edge of the glass. You can get the same shade as factory.

Yes, but it's the Ariel and Heater Elements that are noticeable. Just looks a bit naff with orange lines.

I never liked it, so both D3's and first D4 didnt have it, but latest D4 does (was only way to get the spec I wanted in the time I wanted it), but to be honest, quite like it now I've got used to looking at it.
From the inside there's virtually no difference when looking out.

Wouldn't be without it.
Stops prying eyes looking in, keeps the dogs cooler & most colours look better for it.

I am also not a fan. I am a photographer and live in a cold country, so I want as much visibility as I can get, and the heat issue is not important at all. Theft is also still not really an issue here. I dislike the look in most cars, but I do think it looks pretty good in the Discovery, but only because it fits the design well, since a lot of the trim around the windows in the back is rather thick and black anyway. I would have probably gotten it as an option if it was only for the rear window and third row seats, but since it is for the passengers as well, I decided against it. Also, it was a rather expensive option here (740 pounds), and since I was on the fence about it, I just left it off.

Wouldn't be without it for the dogs, mine was not spec'd at the factory so had LR do it and apart from the orange lines ( which you get used to) it looks and works good for me.
Without it I think it looks like a Pope MobileD4 HSE - Aintree Green

Another for it, dogs appreciate it and so do I as people tend to stop and go all goo goo and tap the glass when they see the dogs and then it upsets them.
Also on the rear passenger glass so nobody can see what I carry !!

Wouldn't have a car without it
I've got factory tinted glass, however tempted to get an additional film applied to the boot area so that you can't see in at allDisco gone

I used to have it because of what I used to carry in the back of the car but now I've retired I still prefer it to not having it Cheers Ian

Strange isn't it how it seems to be a love it/hate it item with very few in the not bothered/not fussed camp.
For me there is no way I'd buy a D3/4 without it now, even though my first D3 didn't have it.

I'll always have privacy glass on any car but for me the Discovery looks quite strange without it. Totally agree with the greenhouse comparisons !!Velar MY18 D180 S Narvik
