Adblue
Dealer wanted £75+VAT to fill adblue up. Told me needed "special equipment" and it takes an hour.
Was £20 for four litres at Halfords (cheaper online available) and took two mins max from opening the bonnet up. Car took about 3 litres to fill and has done 13k (4.4 litre diesel)
The special equipment is obviously the cup of tea and doughnut required while that bottle empties. And then another 58 minutes for the second doughnut...

Fun and games! I called by at Morrisons and bought 10 litres of AdBlue on the forecourt for £12, including a funnel! What I found funny was that the cashier had no idea what it was and thought that £12 for a plastic container, full of 10 litres of clear liquid, seemed like a lot of money!
Dealers won't be making good money out of AdBlue for very long....2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Not sure if a funnel works on my RRS looking at it, maybe it would
I won't be needing it again on this car.

Th 2ltr bottles I've seen have a fitting as part of the cap that screws directly onto the fitting on my D4 under my filler cap next to the fuel cap, so no "pouring" required

I wonder how much dealers will make ripping people off with this new thing at £75+VAT Cheers Ian

The bottle and nozzle combination that you can buy for very little fills in just the same way as a petrol filler can would, it's just that AdBlue is not anything like as unpleasant as petrol and diesel to handle, so it really doesn't need any special connector to mate with the tank filler.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

The Halfords bottle has the valve connector and its reusable. No mess at all on or off the filler.
Expected the stuff to have a certain whiff but it was odourless.
At price I was quoted it would have been £97.50 total (they charged £2.50/litre for adblue) and an hour of my life if I had gone (as sure I'd have been kept waiting to 'justify' the cost) so I'd say about £87 profit on the £75+VAT quoted if it took them two minutes like it took me
I've got a 1000 litre IBC full for about £350. Stay away from LR, find a local farmer or haulage company and you'll pick it up for a couple of beer tokens

Oh, and don't use anything else apart from the JLR Adblu, as it's not the same...Communication is the breakfast of champions...

if you have the 5yr service pack, given that adblue shouldnt need topping up between services (yeh right), then shouldnt it be filled as part of the service schedule

Its a company car and been told to book in at dealer and expenses cover it.
Told them I'd DIY'd it and have asked to escalate in business to get a 'process' as we shouldn't be just accepting around £100 charge for something that is, literally, as simple as filling washer bottle up
That's my view anyway and I am sure many/any colleagues capable of doing this would also happily undertake the task (vast majority wouldn't do enough miles before car went back anyway....)

AdBlue is a registered trade name/mark and has to be to a standard.
Land Rover state clearly that:
"You can purchase AdBlue™ from independent auto shops. Please ensure the standard you buy is ISO 22241-1 or DIN 70070."
