DLGis, what kind of use has your car had? Have you done much towing?

Not sure Gareth, only bought it in October, with 1 previous owner. It had the tow pack option fitted from new, but no tow bar with it. Is there a way to tell? D4 GS 12MY

Anyone know roughly what a dealership would charge for a full ATF change on an 8 speed ?
My MY12 is only on 30K miles, but half of that has been towing the tintent round Europe, so might be tempted to get it done this year.
Asked the question this week as I had my 4th year service at 49,000 miles. Are you sitting down? The 144,000 mile full ATF change £950, no quote for a partial change. Going to do it but as I'm recovering from a serious leg injury getting down and dirty is an issue.
Question - Where can I buy Lifeguard 8 ATF. AF used to stock it but now it's not available, other sites seem to be a waste of time. "Compatible" fluid is out there, or so it is said, but as I'm still under a LR Approved Warranty ideally I would like to stay OEM. FFRR Westminster TDV8

He's replied - only one litre in stock so no good.
Called in on LR Main Dealer - £52 a litre!!! Service Manager, who I know well, was shocked and said he would sell me 5 litres at cost. He thought LR was ripping us off. Even more surprised to find cost price to LR - £46, so they are paying through the nose as well.
Hard to get my head around this. Why is it £15 a litre on eBay coming in from Europe but they are out of stock, £15 a litre from a motor factor in UK, only 1 litre available, but plentiful at the Main Dealer but at those prices.
Cheap stuff on the Bay does bother me, the Chinese are very good at copying plastic bottles and filling them with green washing up liquid, or at least some inferior ATF.
If I have to pay the LR price I probably will, after all the car cost a b y fortune so it deserves kosha stuff. I've read the other thread and looked at the alternative ATFs, and while I am prepared to believe the others conform to the LR spec I don't want to mix fluids.

I suppose if you've only done 49k miles you could hold off a while to see if more surplies turn up at a lower price D4 GS 12MY

Dont forget to report on the condition of your old oil. As your mileage is close to mine it'll be interesting to see how it compares D4 GS 12MY

I'll do that but don't hold your breath as I have to work out exactly how I'm going to get underneath and work safely with one leg not working too well.
I've got serious ramps to pick the beast up (built them myself to level the car on my slightly slopping drive, and they will support a tank, then off road height on suspension so space underneath should be good. I've also got a creeper to get under and out quickly and hopefully easily and I've got the necessary axle stands for safety. Going to use an IR thermometer, (Fluke - good bit of kit) as I don't have an IID Tool.
Then, armed with a copy of "Robbie's Guide" - thank you for that, the game's on.
What can go wrong? FFRR Westminster TDV8
