Speedo, is it just me

Maybe I'm being too picky but the one thing that's really starting to bug me about my new D4 is the Speedo and Rev counter dials. Rev counter because I have no interest in reading it and Speedo because the top half is totally obscured by the steering wheel! It would have been more practical to locate the speedo where it would be fully in view? Thankfully LR provided a digital readout so I can actually tell what speed I'm doing.

SWMBo is 5' and I'm 6'3" and neither have any issues reading the dash. Daft question but have you tried adjusting the the steering wheel height and rake?
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

i agree , with the seat and wheel adjusted to my ideal position the top of the speedo is obscured and im 5 11 so a typical height

on the subject of annoying D4 details why is the volume adjustment on the left of the wheel now whereas on my D3 it was on the right . your right hand is on the wheel for a right hander 99.9% of the time but often my left is on the armrest.

and before anyone says it yes this is a minor thing and yes i should have both hands on the wheel .might look to see if i can swap the control switches over when im bored Thumbs Up

You are right about the volume switch being on the wrong side and I agree, a stupid change from the D3. I did take the wheel off to look at changing it over but I couldn't see a way to do it. I cant recall exactly the reason now but it would be good to hear if anyone else managed it

Spot on. Why not use the steering wheel volume control?

Me too...

Seat is in lowest position, steering wheel at its highest.

I can't see the top of the speedo, unless I duck.

I'm only 6'2 - and I don't recall having this problem in my D3...

But, as has been said, the digital readout makes it tolerable, and after a few kmiles now, I'm getting used to it.

Try moving the seat further back, if you're 6"2" you don't need to have it close, I found on my manual D3 I had this issue but not on the auto, eventually worked out I put the seat further back in the auto as I don't need to hit the flood with my left foot Laughing

6ft 3" here, and in my perfect seat position the top of the wheel obscures the indicator lights. Hey-ho, could be worse!

Well now I'm on the subject the flappy paddles are equally pointless and serve only to switch the car to manual when accidentally touched. Rolling Eyes

The round gear dial with built in gimmick can, in no way, be superior to a regular shift whereas the dial would have made a great interface to the info screen/nav! As per BMW and Audi etc. Having to prod the screen takes far more concentration/distraction from the road in my humble.

Cameras are ok apart from junction view which is Censored , but that's been covered in detail elsewhere

Don't get me wrong I like the car but the D3 had all the flexibility of the D4 and that's really the only point for me, its been like getting a new-old car with some added pointless features. Bit of a disappointment really but it tows the tin tent brilliantly.

I've had it over a month and not even thought about washing it, that says a lot because I'm usually pretty car proud.
