New pads only shouldn't be more than a few hundred, discs all round will boost the price but no where near a grand imo
Seek a good Indy or better still do them yourself, about half an hour a corner tops and should cost you £100 for new top quality pads and no specialist tools needed
Plenty of guides on here eg Bodsy, very easy diy ....................................................................................................
If my wife ever sells my stuff for what she thinks I paid for them, you lot are gonna get some bargains!

i was quoted around £1k for front and rear pads and discs at a dealer a while ago, again picked up in a complementary health check. I bought from advanced factors for £230 or so for the lot (plus £54 for handbrake shoes).
What I did find was the discs were very worn considering it was the first set of pads at around 38K miles. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

The least you can do, in this situation, is share the video of the technician expertly checking the pad thickness.

A quick look at Rimmer's shows oem discs, pads and two pad wear wires to be about £550 delivered incl vat. Aftermarket would be a lot cheaper but just trying to show you the base cost. 2014MY Discovery
