I would. If I knew where I could find the hole to insert it.

My D3 got its box flushed at 125,*** miles, I had judders and slipping badly when cold.
Flush made no positive change, it made it worse in my case.
I stuck 2 bottles of Dr tranny in it at the 135 ish miles. Made a huge change for mine, no slip and no judder. I stuck a 3rd bottle in a few months later just for safe measure.
Car drive much nicer till the box finally died at 160,955 miles when it blew the main shaft oil the night before it was going in for TC and box replacement.
Still drove it the 25 miles to the garage though...
New tc and box and it’s a happy car again. I’ll be getting the oil flushed this September and get it changed regularly to keep the new box happy.

I take it Dr.Tranny is the life suport system and its best to start looking for gearbox refurbishment at that stage.

Just to update.
Gearbox specialist stated the clutch was burnt badly. He stated this caused the problems outlined above with gear 5.
He stated that she must have been pulling heavy loads. I stated I never pulled anything with her. It must have been the previous owner.
As stated, I got her gearbox refurbished one year previous. Which begs the question, do they automatically change th eclutch as well.....
In any case, they stated they'd do it under the warranty.

For me, it was a plaster over the cracks till I got it all fixed.
And some blind luck with it being booked in just as the box called time on it’s life and oil retention capabilities.
At least it’s under warranty, to me it sounds like it wasn’t fully rebuilt and only the properly gubbed parts were changed.

I'm inclined to think the same about the refurb.
I think for such a job, I'd be better off going to UK, specialist Land Rover transmission rebuilder.

Not that I have used one but ZF has authorized service centers in most European countries that diagnose, service, repair and rebuild gearboxes... they use original parts, have the know-how from the manufacturer, etc. Might be an option for you, might not. You’ll find one through the ZF aftermarket website, https://aftermarket.zf.com/go/en/aftermark...s-and-lcv/

AS this seems to be the tranny thread of late |

Ok, not sure my issue is a shudder or a KABLAM!! I think of shudder as a back and forth (as per DUTCHBOY) 3rd/4th/3rd/4th, I edit for the American audience. JK! mine is a rev increase with a sudden shift into I assume second gear. This happens only to me when I am rolling, and don't come to a complete stop before again accelerating. Pretty sure it is a 1st gear to second gear thing, as it also sometimes happens when stopped hard like if someone stopped quickly in front of you, and when you stopped the gears "backed up" as if a trailer with a heavy load was behind you pushing the vehicle, or the gears "Piled up" and shifted from 4th to 3-1 in a fraction of a second, however the braking is normal, not quick/jam/both feet on pedal.
I am sure this is a different subject however this solenoid subject has been popping up recently and I now am the proud owner of an IIDTool. So where to find the information on logging a trip in IIDTool to figure out my issue, as I am thinking the torque converter is the issue but there is only this one issue (for now, with the trans anyway) as I am getting no high revs gear changes in other gears or on cruise. I just did the parts change out when I only needed to clean out an exhaust valve on my compressor so I am trying not to "PARTS CHANGE" this one out, and fail, and fail only to learn I could have change one solenoid, or sleeve or I have no idea about a ZF autobox, I own a Scout with gears 1969 version 3 speed the rebuild consisted of picking out the big chunks of metal and looking at the 6 gear wheels in it.
I would like to fix this without an additive but it is no where near critical IMO yet although I am thinking of running some trails later this year and will demand more than flat highway and a now and then sand trip that I do once in a while.
I don't want to ignore this until it drops the Auto-box on the ground one day either.
I'll stop now sorry long winded post. 2005 Land Rover D3, 4.4L V8, Maya Gold Metallic

2009 LR 3 Diesel 350 000 km I was experiencing shudder at 60 km/hr and 90 km/hr had the gearbox flushed and change oil .. it got worse .. !!! Researched the web and came across the USA brand Dr Tranny was skeptical. But after reading several other posts and getting references fro other people who had used it I put a tube in via the radiator hose cooling the oil. Ran it in idle for 15 minutes and the problem was instantly fixed ... Now on 390 000 km and still going strong ...

Think the bushes inside the auto gearbox wear and this allows fluid past. When this happens a loose of pressure for that gear happens. This causes the t/c to slip and judder. Adding dr tranny allows the t/c to slip slightly which the stops the juddering as the t/c try’s to obtain traction with the loose of pressure.

Been on this forum for two years and it’s saved me a fortune, the wise heads here helped fix my sunroof when stuck open, drains for same, to do my own routine filter/fluid servicing and even about to do my diffs and transfer case oils too.
When I bought my disco it juddered like going over a cattle grid when under acceleration up a slope. Had a mega flush done which fixed it for one day... I then put Dr tranny into the pipe near the radiator into the box and job done. One tube.
Two years later and still driving sweetly, but only 11000 miles in that time. Looking to change the ATF within the next year and will stick another tube if Dr Tranny in then. Best £12 I ever spent.

Hi Everyone!
Recently got the dreaded gearbox shudder in my Disco 3. Have ordered some Dr Tranny as the cheapest attempted fix. Could anyone explain to an idiot (or better still a picture) of where to pour it in? I'm quite new to the car, not really got the chance to get to know it under the bodywork yet.
Thanks a lot!
