Latest News....

OK .... latest

Car back from dealership today to have the following sorted:-

Inner door trim - fixed Smile

Dent in drivers door - fixed Smile

Rattle in door pillar - fixed Smile

Glue run on top of rear roof light housing - mainly fixed Rolling Eyes

Paint defect in drivers door - not done Crying or Very sad

Thing is - with the rear roof light housing they had called auto glass out to remove - they refused saying the housing is bonded with the paintwork and they could not guarantee the integrity of the seal if they removed it So dealership has cleaned it up - much better but still a very slight blemish left - so that and the door will have to be done at an approved JLR paintshop in Exeter at some stage - they have sent LR piccies and await approval. I'm not sure though whether its worth it - especially for the light housing - the roof will get worse marks than what I have at the moment with bird poo stains and the like ... so will keep an eye on that .... as for the door ...... maybe, maybe not.... Rolling Eyes It may be that LR say its acceptable as is? .... so still undecided what to do....

It sounds like you're a lot further ahead than you were Thumbs Up

I wouldn't mind seeing that door for myself if that could be done...

Think I would personally leave it as it is and enjoy the car.

Further work only risks making it worse - bit like starting cosmetic surgery.

I'm of the same thought ...... but there again why should I put up with it? - admittedly, until I ask someone to look for the blemish they just don't see it - and I struggle some days myself unless the light is just so... its a bummer. I know an approved JLR bodyshop should make it just right - and according to some I should get it done and not accept anything less etc etc.... I'm going round in circles with it and just want to get on and enjoy the bloody thing!!

Anyway - I've prattled long enough about it on this forum and sorry to go on and on...

Somehow I can't see Carrs taking anything to their competitors.... approved bodyshop or not .... its fairly unusual for a dealership to have the space/facility of a bodyshop in my experience ......

So ..... having seen the 'glue run fix' on the rear roof light in the sunlight when cleaning the roof (looked like somebody had a go at it with a screwdriver!) told dealer not happy so they have decided to book it into JLR approved bodyshop in Exeter to fit a new rear rear light (apparently its 'paint bonded' or some such and the dealer can't do it).... and get the bodyshop to 'sort' the door paint blemish as well!

Told them about the b pillar rattle coming back and the possible need for new spot welds in both pillars (there is a forum thread on this rattle - mainly affecting US D4s it seems and 'all' 'Discovery' Sports thingys )..... gone all quiet on me on that front (all this exchange done by email, this seems the service managers preferred method of communication Rolling Eyes )

Now.... I'm not making a fuss about this random ticking in my right ear, which on some days doesn't happen at all and on others for part of the journey and then disappears (seems dependent on temperature/atmospheric conditions and can't be reproduced to order) so, now I've got a record of notifying them am prepared to live with it for the time being and see if it goes away or gets worse?

Still waiting a date for it to go in and get fed up chasing them up about it!!

A few weeks back I had a 2015 courtesy D4 for a few days while mine was in for recall work and that had the same rattle. I thought it was probably coming from the sealbelt raise/lower on the B pillar but didn't look too much. Only did 35 miles or so in 3 days but it drove me mad!!!

Rolling Eyes today the annoying 'ticking' was back in my right ear FFS!! .... not sure where to go from here .... I can live with it I suppose as it comes and goes ... my wifes Auris Hybrid 'buzzes' in my right ear also, this is from the roof handle ..... also comes and goes depending on road surface (mind ... it may not be with us long as she was shunted up the rear yesterday - and may be write off.....!!) Rolling Eyes its dangerous out there .... lots and lots of knob heads about!!

I hope your wife is ok, especially if the accident was bad enough her car may now be written off.

You certainly don't need two cars to have to sort out!

Watch out for the traffic light chaos if you are visiting Carrs.

Thanks Fitzy ... wife is fine .... she insists she's got no whip lash ..... but I'm thinking she must have!! - but no, she still insists!! so - we are not going down the road that makes us all end up paying more for our insurance.... but maybe we should?

Her car is a mess though ... and borderline 'write off' as things look too twisted for me to be put right!

Good to hear she's ok, seems everyone claims for whiplash these days. Mrs Skep hit the back of a corsa the other week but so light it did no damage to either car, exchanged details anyway, but they are now claiming whiplash! I'm struggling to understand how that is possible when there is NO DAMAGE!!!

Nearly two years ago, I had two cars run into the back of me one week apart from each other - one in my own car and once in the accident loan car!

Both were dealt with well by an accident management company. However, each time they got a person to contact me to firstly find out if I had any personal injury and then, when I said that I had 't, they put me under considerable pressure to change my mind! They told me that any injury wouldn't show up straight away (so they kept calling me) and they said that the guilty party's insurer would have already set aside money for this and that I was "entitled" to it. It's little wonder that people make bogus claims Sad
