smoke on acceleration
Hi all, I've recently noticed some black smoke on full acceleration does anyone know what could cause this. The engine is a 2.7 and 185K miles. Thanks

not a LR expert, but on other diesels black smoke on acceleration can be either injector issues or sometimes excess carbon being burned off. Excess is caused by short runs at lower temps - solution is a few longer trips and some hard acceleration (Italian tune-up) - can work.....
but I'd take the expert's advice, and check the hoses first at least.....

Wouldn´t a cut intercooler hose cause also a delay in acceleration??
I would put some injector cleaning for a couple of tanks

I've just had my turbo hose replaced after the same problem - loss of performance and black smoke, and all better now.
Not that expensive either thankfully

Have a look at your intercooler too. Not unknown for minor cracks to cause hear symptoms.

Or as mentioned above a broken intercooler. The oil weep is a tell tale sign
Have taken mine apart to fit new intercooler. You can see the broken area on the original smaller cooler
