Charging at 15volts
Battery keeps draining when ever I leave key egnition for 5 minutes or more eg hoovering or washing it, go to start and nothing there just clicks, in Dailey use so doesent stand, if I don't do this it starts fine every morning, done this the whole 3 months I have owned it,
Once I jump start it and put volt meter on it is showing 15volts, I can let it run for 1 minute stop it and it will start straight back up

Hi Mickd, and a number of reasons could be behind why you battery is going flat so quickly when you leave the key in and have the radio on.
While there is a good chance your battery may be on it’s last legs, but because it is holding enough charge overnight to be able to start in the morning, it might just be down on usable capacity.
Calcium/Calcium batteries can take 15+ volts while charging and as your D3 is operating at 15v, it is trying to charge your battery.
You say it is in daily use but when you drive it, if it is not for more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time, then your are not getting enough charge into the battery while driving and this can lead to the battery sulphating.
If the battery is Sulfated and down on usable capacity, you might be able to recover some or most of it’s lost capacity by giving your battery a series of overnight charge/float cycles.
Try putting your charger on the battery and leave it on all night, every night for a week and see if the battery’s performance improves.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

Mine was doing a similar thing last November. Alternator charging at 15+ Volts and not staying charged long. I did give the battery a 16 Hr charge every weekend just to keep it starting the car. I noticed that the battery was dated 2005 so obviously was original. I bought a new Exide battery which has cured all my problems. My alternator now charges at a much safer 14 Volts.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

Sounds like the battery has had it...
For £80 to changed would be the obvious cheap thing to try. Cheap for a D3 being anything not in hundreds or thousands of pounds.

Hi mickd, if the 12.3v is 3 days after the battery was fully charged, and was with no load connected to the battery, then it is not holding a charge.
If you try reconnecting the battery, and the voltage will probably drop quickly from the 12.3v, if so then you are not likely to gain anything from charge it again.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7
