Another horrendous weekend away
We have had another horrendous weekend off with caravan, only going 35 miles from home, we got 4 mile when (special programs off) 30 mph only and red stability control light came on, lost power and suspension went down to stops, this was in the middle lane of the A1 at 5.30 pm, pulled onto hard shoulder and switched off, turned back on all ok with no warnings so off we went again. All was ok for the rest of the weekend and journey home no problems.
Codes read by my Nanacom when back at home.
U0132 Lost communication with ride level control module/ Lost communication with suspension control module. This code was logged 3 times!
C1A03 Front left height sensor.
C1A04 Front left high sensor.
C1A07 Cross articulation.
U0421 Invalid data received from ride control module.
P0046 Turbo/supercharger boost control solenoid circuit range/performance.
As I have posted before about getting code P0234 Turbo/supercharger over boost problems on long hills when car is working but did not get this this weekend.
We are getting sick and tiered of the reliability of this Disco 3 it's every trip off glad I don't have to use it every day we have a little runabout for that.
Also intermittent red air bag warning light coming in then it goes off for a while then back on. tried all the usual faults/ wiring plugs etc.
Think the Discovery ownership days are numbered now.

It's a shame you haven't found someone capable of diagnosing and fixing this as it will not fix itself.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Robbie it came from Green Oval last September, it first did the Turbo over boost fault in November when we first used it to tow the caravan, they have had it back and been out on road test but could not fault it, only does it now and again but that's when you don't want it to, dare not try passing a hgv on motorway now encase it goes into limp mode, wife came back with one of our friends this weekend she would not come back in Disco does not trust it now, it will cause a accident yet, going to get onto Green Oval in morning about it. had a look at the service history that came with it and it was in with them just before we bought it for a logged turbo fault I have a receipt that says this. They cleared fault and to monitor it.

Sounds like your turbo is fooked, whether the whole thing or the linkage. It needs sorted, otherwise every time you press the loud peddle you'll wonder whether it will shut down. Been there, done that. Took 9 months to diagnose & replace turbo (again), SWMBO refused to drive the car as (rightly) she said the car was dangerous. Had I known how long it would take to fix it I'd have sold the car in a heartbeat. Get it sorted or get rid, to do nothing about it is not really an option.

Looks suspiciously like a hard turbo fault, and a front left height sensor, or calibration issueMy D3 Build Thread

Only ever does it when towing and I cant tow the caravan around all the time If I do decide to trade it in don't think it will be another Land Rover. See what happens tomorrow. When it is on form I do love it though, it's just the constant watching and waiting for the ding special programs off or ding engine system fault.

Im sure plenty of revs and giving it the beans would give same results as towing.
Lets be honest you cant blame the tool, especially of the operator knows it plays up under certain situations?

Mine can be fine for 300-500 miles driving it hard or gentle and then put your foot down to wip past a few up a hill and duff knock in to neutral for 3-4 seconds and fine again , but it p ss me off I think think mine is the in tank fuel pump , only does it under quick load -------------------------------------------------
if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

Dont need a caravan to load for test. Six jerry cans (or Aquarolls) of water in the back will give a load.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Six full jerry cans is not like towing 1900kg of twin wheel caravan and all the other stuff in the back of the Disco up a long drag, like I said it does not do it every or all the time, can give it the beans and all will be well then then another time it will just do it, if it would do it more regularly or I could make it do it that would be great fault found new turbo or what ever and end of story but Brian from Green Oval cant get it to do it. Dont want to put a new turbo on only to find it is still doing it, if a turbo will cure it great bring it on.

Same here, all 3 times I have towed my van the car has stopped after about an hour of easy running. Difficult to find fault as by the time I have pulled up the car is fine.
An Aussie has the same problem and he just switches off and back on while still rolling, I tried this last time it happened and apart from several warning lights staying on for a while it all worked. I continued another 100 miles with no problems.
So very interested to see what your solution is, as I also do not want to be overtaking when this happens!

I became skilled at rolling restarts, interesting in traffic but safer than trying to carve across two or three lanes of traffic. I could have sworn the car was trying to kill me shutting down on a hill in front of an artic powering up said hill. I remember that Scania badge getting closer and closer and closer as I tried to squeeze between two other heavies to get to the hard shoulder. Luckily I had CC on and I was faster than than that, when she hit the set speed for some weird reason she stopped slowing down. After that I learned when she would do it, and not just on hills. I could trigger it just by feeding in enough power in the right way very gently, as if moving out a lane to get past a slightly slower truck in front.
Problem I was having we're three part, some turbo related but first thing changed was non LR fuel filter that the muppets at Ratstones fitted (never darkened their door again). That helped big time. It would still shut down but only at very heavy throttle like accelerating up long steep hill. Then spent ages searching for similar events here and the MAP sensor always seemed to be in the background somewhere so that got cleaned and then replaced. I was still getting a small number of ESF messages, can't remember if shutting down, but the new turbo sorted that out. Took a long time to get it resolved but all sorted in the end.

Get yourself a Landcruiser and throw away all your spanners... I have had a number of Discoveries and eventually gave up... now I just put fuel in the Toyota and drive... no breakdowns,no drama, no nonsense. It has now done 130,000 miles and still drives like new. Apart from routine servicing it has had one sticky calliper.... that is it after 130,000 miles.
