Fitted a stove jack to oztent side awning
Having bought a side awning to give extra under cover space, I decided to fit a stove jack so that I can use my woodburning stove to cook and more importantly sit outside later on and keep warm
My idea is to use my tall windbreak to create a square around the side awning enclosing that area
The side awning can be used with or without the peaked side panels
I preferred doing this rather than cutting into a side peaked panel as feel the dimensions are too tight for my stove and a kitchen set up, and I don't need heat at night anyway as I have a good sleeping bag
Here's some pics
30 min job, and at least I've got a circle of spare oztent patch material even if the stove jack idea doesn't work out
First the cut
A bead of high temp silicone to make sure no drips of rain between fabric and metal ring
Cut the stove jack to a tight fit against the Helsport stove pipe
Will test it out next trip away in a few weeks ....................................................................................................

certainly was Phil, a few toastie evenings enjoyed tempted to get a frontier style stove to replace my Helsport just because of the flame factor out the top. Im more inclined to use the stove as a social gather around feature rather than a cooker and heater so a bit of a flame from the woodburner is always nice on the campsite.
Those backwood stoves Wiggs pointed out on ebay look the biz for £135 ....................................................................................................

Yes they looked good but wasnt the flue significantly bigger than the 60cm diameter on the frontier and Oz pig.
That means sorting out new spark arrestors and angled flu pieces in my case, for ease of compatability and adding extras I'm sticking with one that has a 60cm flue.

yep 70mm flue on Blackwood, so if I bought one my exhaust chap can do 2 x 1m stainless flue with tapered ends for £18 p/m so would be fine for me. Would just get a sealed end pipe and drill plenty of 5mm holes in it for a spark stopper
you could always change your flue size Phil on the frontier, just cut and re-weld a new larger collar on the stove and get the new flue in stainless to your spec, bends and all, doubt it would cost more than £50 all in....................................................................................................
