What's the "best" roof tent for a Discovery ?
Not for me,as I think anything to do with camping makes waterboarding seem very attractive by comparison ,but a friend is considering roof tents for his D4,and said I would ask for some feedback on here.
I'm sure there are pages and pages on this subject, but to be frank,I can't be ar$ed reading all about a subject I have no interest in
So with that in mind, would those in the know, using small words only, care to enlighten me on the various pros and cons of the different options please ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Howling moon, Eezi Awn or Hannibal would be on my shopping list. Be sure to tell him to get the Touring version which means the ladder is included in the skirt so you can go up and down from the tent without getting wet when it's raining.Club Exped trailer

I would recommend James Baroud.
If I were him I would consider if he had enough room to dry the tent out at the end of the trip. I personally don't so that's why I find hard tops as the best tents. If you are closing "soft-top" tents during or right after the rain, you are closing a lot of water in. Closing the hard top you can wipe the sides out (if it is not raining anymore) and have a dry inside.
With proper James Baroud there comes ladder with, small torch, and an automatic and silent MCV (motorized controlled ventilation) which is powered by a 24 hour life battery which can be recharged by an integrated solar panel kit. Really great solution for hot night Wrapped Satin Yellow&Black; Lovells 2" Gas Legend Kit, OME hard springs. ATX 192 17" wheels with Cooper STT M/T tires. ProSpeed Roof Rack & Rear Ladder. Custom made underbody protection, front bumper, rock sliders, spare wheel and accessories mountings, drawer system. WARN 9,5XP Winch. Front and Rear Light Guards, Safari Snorkel. VIAIR X'treme Duty OBA, Traxide USI-160 system, Danhag GSM & IPCU modules, IID Tool BT, James Baroud roof tent and awnings, and air horn for fun
