Robbie's Guide To CCA Battery Testing With Ctek
I've had one of these EIS Ctek battery analysers (made by Midtronics) for a while and have used it on a number of members vehicles; no doubt I will do a few more free tests as winter approaches.
Anyway, this is the first video review I have seen for it which may be of interest to some. I've been pretty impressed with it:

HI Robbie, quick question...
If you set the CCA to 650 for example on a 750CCA battery would the tester show a reading higher than 650 or not?
I have a Snapon one that has LEDs and rates the battery as a percentage. I've got a few Optima 5.1 yellow tops and they are 975CCA, I have one that reads up to 125%.A local Optima supplier says they have had some Optimas test out at over 1200CCA
I would be interested to see what the CTEK would do in that situation.I like actually seeing the number
I weighed in some batteries on Saturday that showed 12.6v but were no good as far as starting a car, my tester confirmed that. There were a couple of big batteries and 4 smaller ones and I got £65 IID PRO

Yes it will display the detected CCA and is not limited by the number you enter. I just tried mine set on 800 CCA and 900 CCA on my AGM battery - the result was 1025 CCA.
Setting the unit correctly increases accuracy. When set correctly for an AGM battery (otherwise the unit will over-read slightly) my result was 1000 CCA - a pretty healthy figure.

Nice tool for checking the various batteries we have about the place. Obviously a better result than just voltage reading on a multimeter.
This will compliment the Ctec I bought in group buy last year.
Ordered, awaiting play time.

I like the idea of that cetek tester especially if it does sealed gel cells used on ups systems.
I currently drag a very large heavy unit about the size of a tool box but it actually loads the battery and a strip of steel glows inside then it prints out a report i can send to the customer. I have found my unit 100% reliable over the last 10 years I have a feeling it may of occasionally finished of the odd battery but then it probably was on its last legs anyway. Do u think the cetek with print out would suit us.D4

Sorry!
It's really only of value if you have a few batteries to keep healthy, but I see you have a few vehicles....Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
