Is There a Prize for the Rustiest Side Steps? (D3)
Because i think i might have won it
Not too sad about it, these were dealer fit from new so have been on the car 9 years now and from what i have read is pretty common.
Still shocked that there is essentially nothing left though, the rest of the car has no corrosion problems but the side steps are something else! looks like all they needed from new is a couple of drainage holes or something to let water drain out.
Has anyone done something similar? in two minds as to wether it would help prevent future corrosion...
Luckily i managed to find some new steps at a discount at a local dealership so these are now fitted. will make sure i clean them from time to time!
has anyone successfully got new steps under warranty i wonder? Would there be any way of reimbursement for my new ones or do i just suck it up?2006 Discovery 3 HSE // 1957 Series 1 109

Exactly what I thought...........
Nothing to worry about, a tube of super glue would have sorted that problem
out.!!!!!!!!!!

Mine looked bad but compared to yours, they look new I never stand on mine - only SWMBO uses them. I'll wait until she tells me they need replacing 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
