I gave up looking for OE look case. I gave up and order couple off the Bay. I replaced the batteries at the same time.
The LR button still works OK it's just missing the LR logo.

Just brought a disco 3 I am also looking for a new key fob as I think previous owner left key on the heater and all the buttons have melted. The fob still works just minus the buttons. What's the best way to get around this?

I bought two cases on ebay last year and rebuilt both of my FOB's. The seller I bought from is no longer selling but I did find this seller who's cases have the LR logo as desired.

If you continue looking you may find more but in the description of this item it specifically states "logo x 1".

The original case is welded together, as such is hard to get apart. Getting the circuit out requires care. Once the circuit board is out, it's just a case of fitting it into the new casing. I found I had to pack the board slightly to keep it central or the switches didn't quite line up with the buttons.
Hot melt glue would have worked for this, only I'd run out.
Once the board was lined up, I moved onto fitting the key blade.
This is easy. The new case comes with a blank blade fitted into the hinged assembly. I simply punched out the tiny roll pin keeping the blade in place on both old and new hinged assemblies. The old blade then fits into the new hinge, the roll pin being tapped back in to keep the blade in place.
The new case can then be assembled with the hinged section and the casing glued together with a continuous line of Cyanoacrylate.

Never had a problem with ordering anything from China. With some items, I'm amazed the item can be made, packaged and shipped for a tiny sum. Most things i've ordered have arrived in around 10 to 14 days.

I can't be certain but I remember my FOB cases I ordered from China taking somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks time to be delivered. Just long enough to forget about it and then it's like Christmas when it finally shows up.

And yes, they're cheap to ship.

I bought one from the seller DiscoNels identified above. It arrived in about a week, and I finally got around to swapping the gubbins over on Sunday.

As you can see from the picture, the internals are identical to the original so there were no problems with the fit of the circuit board and battery, or lining up the switches:

It was a straightforward swap, and the hardest parts were getting the old one apart which took a fair bit of brute force courtesy of a screwdriver and my trusty Leatherman:

And super gluing it back together which needed three steady hands to hold all the bits together. Even then I still managed to glue the blade closed but a bit of gentle persuasion soon got it free.

The finished item looks the part, and I'll do the other to match soon. I may change the battery too to be on the safe side, although both originals seem to be going strong.

Did the blade fit the same? I had some from ebay that had the LR logo and the blade/mount were different to the original and I couldn't swap them over. I didn't want to start filing things to make them work

If I were you Discologist I'd change the batteries now while you have the chance. With a 2005 I'm surprised your batteries aren't dead already. I bought my 2006 in 2013 and both key fobs were already dead on arrival. You've already done the hard part, getting the case open, changing the battery isn't too bad with a soldering iron and steady hands.
