Brought and Bought, sorry but I'm totally lost!

Brought and Bought, sorry but I'm totally lost!

I have noticed some people when they buy something, they say they brought it, how can you brought it, am I missing something here, it just doesn't make any sense at all.

I would be more than happy to understand what the hell is going on because it's confusing, it certainly isn't in any dictionary as meaning having 'bought' something Wink

It's not confusing, people who say they brought in a shop are wrong unless they are saying they carried something into the shop

bought = pay for something in a shop
brought = carried something somewhere

What's confusing is that so many people on here say they brought something instead of bought, I just wondered if the words had changed without me knowing, as I said it just doesn't make any sense. It's not any one person it's loads.

Sorry I'm asking about brought and bought, I don't think it's a spelling mistake as there are so many uses of it on here.

Surely if you buy something and refer to it in the past tense then you bought it .

Not to worry, we all know what they mean, better to spell wrong than not spell at all Thumbs Up

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

In most cases the context in which is used will give it away. Many of these people are using the wrong word but it's not enough to get stressed about in my book.

I have a relative who picks people up their use of words and it's embarrassing because 80% of it is just him wanting to feel superior. He talks about it like it's a criminal offence or morally wrong
