Old one, but still funny........

Paddy McCoy, an elderly Irish farmer, received a letter from the Department for Work & Pensions stating that they suspected he was not paying his employees the statutory minimum wage and they would send an inspector to interview them.

On the appointed day, the inspector turned up.

"Tell me about your staff," he asked Paddy.

"Well," said Paddy, "there's the farm hand, I pay him £240 a week, and he has a free cottage.
Then there's the housekeeper. She gets £190 a week, along with free board and lodging.

There's also the half-wit. He works a 16 hour day, does 90% of the work, earns about £25 a week along with a bottle of whisky and, as a special treat, occasionally gets to sleep with my wife."

"That's disgraceful" said the inspector, "I need to interview the half-wit."

"That'll be me then," said Paddy.

Yup, NIC is just an "invisible tax" that doesn't get quoted when discussing tax rates. It's also the easiest tax to increase without grabbing the headlines.

I now get some relief on NI at least in Scotlandshire. I save approx £2k in a year.

Haven't really looked at the rules, the Accountant does that.

A couple of years ago I sent the Acciuntant, a woman, a pic of my grandkids cleaning out the tracks of my Kubota in the yard.

She asked me if I kept it at home and used it for stuff.

I answered that I occasionally hammered in a fence post or cleared the stream.

She made me pay £200 Benefit in kind for that Neutral

I now lie and tell her it's kept at my business site Whistle

Can not afford healthy food but can afford tattoos??

Something about priorities?

£20,000 per year tax free is about £30,000 earned income. Now what is average wage in UK?
