iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus ?

I need some help please...

Going to be ordering iPhone 6 at 8am tomorrow morning and cannot decide if big is beautiful or impractical.

Can you help me decide? Please comment with why you chose one way or the other.

Thanks so much Bow down

It will be the 6 for me, I've been happy enough with my 5S for now and I avoided the bigger Android ones because they felt just - too big.

The 6 plus appears too big to be a pocket sized phone, maybe more suited to a womans handbag, or a "manbag" perhaps Confused

Yes I can help, I am in exactly the same position, I spent all afternoon in the Jacuzzi studying them and came to the conclusion that I have no idea myself Rolling with laughter

The main thing that people talk about is the fact that at first the 6 plus will seem daunting but then you get used to it and your original phone will seem tiny. Another issue is the battery, if like me you use it to hotspot you will get more power from the 6 plus, also there is more screen to see things on and the mail box is like an iPad or Laptop layout with the email list and preview shown together. The 6 Plus also has image stabilisation that the 6 doesn't if your into taking pictures.

When I had one of the first Blackberry's people used to take the pee saying it looked like I had a calculator on my ear, well look now at the Galaxy's e.t.c. so times move on. Anyone over 50 will be suffering with their eyesight or soon will be, so maybe big is better. I have made a model out of cardboard and I can still get a good 6" in my pocket and have room to feel around it, so your pockets may be bigger than you think, 6" may be a bit too big for some women, especially if they have tight jeans on but I'm sure there are other places to put it, you just need to be imaginative.

There has been an issue with some Apps not fitting the big screen clearly with sides missing but apparently software can sort that and more will be made to accommodate it.

A lot of the comments I read pointed to the Plus being the favourite, so I think I will go for it, it's their flagship model so should have everyone or less that a Samsung had 2yrs ago Whistle Laughing

I use my phone as a Sat Nav but don't make many calls, it's just to check the odd email, I'm hoping that the big one will take the place of my iPad mini as well and I will donate that to someone. So I'm in the same boat as you and so are millions of others, colour wise I'm going for Gold as thats me, I hate the black/grey with all the fingerprints you get on them, and going for 128gb as I want to be future proof.

That's if I decide to get one after seeing what deals they are offering, I am due an upgrade on 3 so will check there first or will buy one outright from Apple, the benefit from going to 3 is the 2yr guarantee as Apple only give 1yr.

Phones are turning into mini computers so things will change, a 6 plus is a compromise between phone and a mini iPad, great for maps and photos plus minor video editing, it is also so thin that you don't feel that it is big, and with rounded corners it feels comfortable to hold (from reviews I have studied). I have also studied the Apple Watch and I will not be getting one of them, with my eyes its pointless.

Let me know what you decide Thumbs Up

Thanks DT, yes that's an excellent summary of my entire thought process today. I even went into a phone shop and tried the Samsung S5 and Note3 in my had because they are pretty similar.

Yes the Note felt massive in my hand, and would be a little bit of a pain. My decision was made previously to get the 6 plus but that all changed when I held it.

Noted that the 6 plus will still fit most pockets and the extra features will add some kudos that the 6 may not have, so still erring towards that one.

I will basically put an order through tomorrow morning for the 6 plus and also a 6, then call three to see if I can upgrade and buy whatever, cancelling the original order for that one.

This way I can evaluate both and sell the one that I don't want. They will be at a premium for the next month as supply will be short.

Is that a good solution? Get both and sell the other?

Woody, noted your comment also... Maybe plus is not so good if you want to carry it in a suit pocket. Weight is about the same, so just about bulk. Thumbs Up

Where are you buying from? I don't know when the Apple site opens or when they deliver, 3 guarantee delivery next Friday but they don't open until 9am. I have two iPhones out of contract on 3 so was going to keep the 5 just in case I didn't like the 6 plus, seems daft for me to get a 6 as well.

The 6 plus is thin and long, my model felt quite comfortable and with the one handed double touch gesture to bring down the screen it has been thought out, I just never thought I would get such a huge stupid phone but as I said times are changing, even Apple have found that, so if they are the worlds leader with phones it would be rude not to follow them Laughing

What memory are you thinking of? it does seem a rip off on memory prices but you can't expand later, and with Apps getting memory hungry and updates you need spare space Thumbs Up

I'm going to buy direct from Apple, then order the other from Three and cancel that one from Apple. Their online store will be taking orders from 8am... Gives me time to secure one of each before three opens for business!

Going for 64Gb, have that on my iPad mini, and 32 on my phone at the moment. Another 90 quid for 128 seems just a bit too much for memory that I can manage without. Will be doubling the phone to the size of the mini, just in case I decide not to keep the mini although it does have it's uses. I never keep music on the phone now since it is all in the cloud.

Also getting space grey because all my kit is space grey Thumbs Up

Hmm I may take another look at the memory, I have 64gb on my iphone 5 and that is nearly full so that was the reason I was looking at 128, I tend to keep loads on it. I bought a MacBook Pro and went through the same issue, I had a special upgrade on it and spent over £3k so I tend to use that a lot to get value out of it, the iPhone will just be acting as a dongle and for occasional use so maybe less memory with some good management would do.

If you are thinking of getting rid of your iPad then you should really double the capacity on your phone, particularly since it is pretty much full... Unless of course you can move a bunch of stuff back to the cloud?

My mac is full also, and that's 512Gb

I've got 5 iPads so no worry about that, also 12TB storage on the NAS so things back up automatically, also got a Black iPhone 4S 32Gb with no marks I don't use, I guess as those are bullet proof worth keeping to use as a GPS or something.

I just need to de clutter a bit, I have backups of backups, you never know when you made need them Thumbs Up

If you are going to use the plus then it will be to consume content or create it... no point in the big screen otherwise as it doesn't help much for texting and phone calls.

Therefore get max storage.

It will also be the easiest to sell on if it doesn't work for you.

I have man hands and have had a couple of Galaxy Notes plus am on a Nexus 5.

The Notes annoyed me because I could not use them that well with one hand.

The Nexus 5 I can, though.

If I look at the dimensions of the next iPhones, I'd say if you want to use one hand, avoid the +.
