Are these a worthy replacement for gg at`s ? Whom I think are a bit noisy....

Comparison would be:

- noise
- handling
- usage
- wear

Curious about the comments...

Well if MTR's were on a 10 for noise these are on a 2 or 3 at the most ...I was very surprised Smile

Handling is excellent and I have pushed them as hard as I dare would a road tyre on both wet and dry

Only did some softroading at the weekend so can't give an opinion on arduous use

Don't know about wear yet obviously Smile

4000 miles on my set now. There is not another tyre for me now. Have done a lot of off road on them and a lot of autobahn. Comparable to ATR noise (not a lot) but nowhere near GG AT noise. They were actually slightly noisy for the first 500 miles or so thats all.

I have a very slight nick in one the fronts close to the rim where it has got nipped which I will relegate to the spare. This occurred in a quarry where other tyres would have punctured.

The sidewalls seems to be very tough. The wear (if any) is minimal and dead straight, but my Disco is on mint suspension and perfect alignment so I would expect that.

They look MEGA too!

 Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"

I would Reply:
"Duratrac"

I can comment that after 23k, the tyre noise goes UP rather considerably.
Mine are very noisy now, have had a few people comment on it when in the car.

I don't really notice it as it's been gradual as they have worn.

Great tyre though and have started saving to replace mine as they are down to 6mm and will need changed later this year as at 4mm they will be rather done for off road use.
Current best price is £159 a tyre.
 In loving memory of FA54WSK.

Rest well old friend, your work is done.

sounds tempting...

Now on 55k km with gg at`s and have some 7mm left. Noise and "not round" sounds starting to come looking for a more decent replacement for all year round...

- less noise
- better off and on road!?
- decent wear....

Looks Very Happy

So you are at 55,000 KM's with 7mm left, so as an AT tyre that suites most peoples requirements I would say "what fantastic value for money" Thanks for sharing these figures. Thumbs Up

You have two other choices as I see it, DuraTrac and LTZ, if I had to choose from these two it would be DuraTrac. Wink

But I still rate the General AT as the best choice overall. Thumbs Up

Andy,

For what reason do you prefer the GG AT? above the other two?

I go by the feedback from my customers, longevity of life and value for money. Thumbs Up

We have also done many, many miles testing over all kinds of terrain and almost all on D3/4's. Very Happy

My wife has been using them since they first came available on her L/Cruiser with great results, and for me they offer so many different sizes to suite almost all 4x4's at good prices. Smile

We are not all going to be happy with one particular tyre and at the end of the day it's down to personal taste. Thumbs Up
