So when I flash my head lights in the day time without lights on the spot lights don't flash aswell. But I haven't put a switch inside to turn the spots off totally as I don't think I'd ever use it.
I can decide tho whether to leave the grill black or have it painted the correct colour green.
Where exactly did you connect to the existing main beam circuit and what colour was the cable?
thx
David
I connected mine behind the drivers head light. Cut the wires and soldered them back together with a feed wire coming off them to the relay the shrink wrapped it all back up again.
Drivers side it's the blue and black wire
Passenger side it the blue and wire wire.
I put all the relays in the second battery tray on the drivers side.

The Lightforce units are not E marked and the max e marked is 60 watt for main beam ISTR ...the 140 units are 75w ...hence the need for the switch and should only be used off road.
I had a pair of 170's which are 100w but had the switch in case I got caught out 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

No ...but there are no e marked lamps above 60 watt AFAIK ...catch 22
The wattage is stipulated in the UNECE regs which does state the highest wattage for e marking which in turn is followed by UK law ...I'll see if I can dig it up. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Dolpants the chances of getting caught out are slim obviously so don't let me put you off ...I loved my LF170's ...but had the switch ..just in case 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I believe PIAA make some 100w e marked lights but that's slightly irrelevant to the issue of needing a switch. The fact is, you can have as many 55w main beam lights as you like with no limit on the total wattage without a separate switch as long as they're wired to go on and off with the main beam switch. My spots only work on main beam when the side lights are on aswell. So when I flash my headlight in the day time the spots don't come on.

Yeah I just didnt want the spots flashing in the day time when I flash my lights. Dad reckons it look abit tacky but that's just an option.

You are right about the PIAA's .. may even do a 120w

These aren't 55w or e marked though
The regs are pants though too...they should really get the plain English brigade in 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
