Check your nuts!

Check your nuts, bolts etc on your roof bars, roof racks, roof tents etc.

This is the time of the year that people fit these.

On the M11 we come across a roof box attached to two roof bars lying upside down in lane 1. No sign of the vehicle it was attached to originally.

A bit scary coming across such a large piece of debris lying on the motorway.

So check the security of the fastenings on your roof bars etc.

BEWARE !! I hire out roofboxes and we had one occasion where our customer pulled into the services for a toilet stop and something to eat. After they were suitably refreshed they set off on their merry way, after a few miles on the motorway they had to brake, the roof box including the bars shot off completely smashing the box to pieces.
It turns out that someone had been trying to remove the bars with the roofbox attached while they were parked up but were disturbed consequently leaving all the bolts loose Twisted Evil
The police said this was a common practice as its easier to remove the bars than just trying to get the roofbox off

I must admit I was not thinking about the thieving scumbag guys.

Was thinking about people not fastening the roof bars down properly

So a quick check after ever stop is well worth doing.
