The red side lights are on ok when in neutral or parked and the lights are switched to auto, so bulbs cant be blown?

The bulbs are dual filament P21 5W, have you removed one to check they're intact?

Brad,
Replace the bulbs with genuine units. Problem should be solved.

Don't confuse the tail lights with the stop lights, they use different filaments.

Hi Brad, I've read this through a few times and I'm not actually sure I understand what your problem is.

On a D3 there are 2 tail light bulbs on each side. For some reason Landrover decided to use twin filament bulbs in both positions. Only one bulb on each side is wired to be brake light. Narpy did a mod to enable both as brake lights.

So...

Do you have both tail light bulbs working on both sides?
Do the brake light ones work when the lights are off?
Do the brake light one work when the lights are on as well?

Thanks, think ive confused myself, so when testing the brake lights which setting should the lights be, auto or the 0 symbol when you turn the dial left, also what gear should the stick be in, neutral, park, drive etc?

And if they have gone both sides where do I source cheap ones thanks?

To avoid any confusion, leave the lights off, while checking the brake lights Thumbs Up

The cheap ones tend to cause more problems, but genuine LR or a OEM like Lucas.

You'll get OEM from your nearest LandRover showroom spares dept.
Very easy to change, open tailgate, remove two screws ( you'll see them ) and pull the whole light unit to the back of the car and Robert should be your mothers brother. Wink

On the other hand, the two lower bulbs are also stop + tail twin filament. You can swap them over and be sorted again without paying anything. Thumbs Up

Open the tailgate, and remove the two cross-head screws that hold the rear light into the body. Pull the light out from the body, best pull the bottom of the light first, you may have to carefully use a plastic spatula to release it.

Once out, you will see the bulb pack on the back, simply unclip and change the bulbs.

Best place to get LR genuine bulbs is LR dealer.
