heater matrix removal - dash out?

So, it's happened, heat on driver's side, no heat on passenger...I've flushed the matrix which did not fix it (tbh, not much crud came out even after using limescale remover etc) and now I need to replace it.
Having a 2010 LR4 i'm not sure if there are any differences with the LR3, but I cannot see how the matrix will come out unless all the plastic centre console trim is removed...has anyone done this? or am I looking at a complete dash removal (please God, no!). Internet pictures show someone taking it out with a slight mod of the panels underneath, but that was not a LR4 (RRS I think( and it's not the same...any advice greatly appreciated.
TIA.

Investigate as per RRS.
Should come out like that, as long as the pipes are joined down there.

I don't suppose you have a 'how to' guide when it comes to taking everything apart?
I am guessing that the entire centre console must be removed, along with all the radio/control panel units in the centre dash?
I am hoping that the steering wheel and console can stay in place, or do you really mean the whole dash has to come out?
I've watched a video online where they remove the entire dash 'live' but I get the feeling I don't need to go to those lengths just to slide the matrix out from underneath (I could be wrong!).

Console usually has to come out, so the dash can move.
I even had to do it to change the glovebox!

I thought the glove box was held in place with 2 hinge pins that you can remove with a little home made tool to 'squish' the end tabs so you can pop the pins through?
