Steering wheel bolt.
I am going to take my steering wheel of to install some extra switches and had a query about the bolt holding it on.
In the manuals it say to replace with a new bolt, is this because it is a stretch bolt or just backside covering. My vehicles history tells me that the wheel has been off twice already but not if new bolts were used so in theory I could be reusing it for the third time if original.
Thoughts of those with more knowledge gratefully received.

Are you installing the phone button switchpack or the indicator/wash wipe switches? Neither need to have the steering wheel off to do. Just the airbag or shroud for the column.
My steering wheel has been off a few times and the nut is fine for reuse. Bodsys Brake Bible

Phone pack and voice control so both left and right clusters and cut the rear shroud to accommodate . I just assumed without looking at it yet that the wheel would need to come off.
Good to hear on the nut didn't want to end up with the wheel off and then discover its a one time use.Black 05 V8SE

It's possibly easier with it on tbh otherwise you need to keep putting the shroud on and off. There's no markings on the shroud to cut out, so it's a bit of trim then check, trim then check etc etc
With the steering wheel on, at least it's stable. Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks Bodsy,
Did it this afternoon with the wheel in place. Both switch packs on and looking very smart. Now just for the module, mic and most lead from a certain member.
