How to clean after offroading
Got my first proper off-roading session planned mid this week in the D3, some not so deep wading and muddy ruts at friends farm that's had a holding pond drained out and offering a bit of fun those those so inclined.
What I want to know is what do I need to clean and how, after it's been up to it's bits in mud and muddy water.
Do you need to go about removing the front bumper etc to run a hose through everything, will be an after work session so going to be dark by the time we've finished, however I don't want to be leaving it to dry as I know it's best to de-crud ASAP.
Any and all help appreciated,

Jet wash, but avoid washing the inter cooler from the front, always best to back wash from inside the engine bay using a hose with a couple of ft of copper pipe with a 90 deg bend at one end Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k

as steve says, clean the intercooler. make sure you do it as soon as you get home or the mud will set like concrete and you will never get it out which will make the engine run hotter, less power and mpg.
I made that mistake early on with my D3 and ended up having to remove all the radiators to get them clean. took a whole weekend !!Duncan

Thanks guys.
Going to get myself a bit of copper pipe tomorrow week then. ....
Better go get a second mortgage buying copper is about as cheap as maintaining a D3 I think.
Just thinking out loud I might try some sort of bracket to hold a bit of hose at 90 degrees rather than the copper pipe. Got to be some way of cleverly doing it.

I just use a barbed 90 degree bit of plastic.
You could even blow the budget on a brand name for £3 a pair on Amazon delivered. Less than 50p at your local DIY store if you can spare the diesel.

Wet it and let soak for a while before rinsing through.
If you have been wading then cleaning the EPB is another lesson learned.
