Cam belts are not an expensive job, unless you go to a main dealer
A warranty that covers wear and tear, and only cost £30 a month should be taken with a pinch of salt IMHO. A set of front lower wishbones, by the time they are fitted, would cost the warranty co. more than your yearly premium. You may be onto a winner, but I would check the fine print before you get too excited with it
However, £12k for a very low mile HSE is a bargain. Enjoy! My D3 Build Thread

Agree re £30/month, which level cover is it? Worth spending more & getting ExtraCare as much more is covered. Compare the small print to see what is (& more importantly isn't) covered.

Sounds like a great deal Paul.
Just be aware of that wear and tear exclusion as DSL says and also that WD may use the fact that the manufacturer's service schedule has not been followed to decline any claims that they could argue might be related (ie. engine / cam belt issues) - you need to get it up to date as a priority.
Enjoy

WD don't look at the schedule, they just want a copy of the last service & MOT. As long as the last one was done within the last 12months or 15k miles (+/- 30 days or 1000 miles ISTR) of the claim date/mileage, and the MOT is current then all is well. If you can't do both of these then the claim will be rejected, end of.

I've taken out a WD warranty on mine - not a great fan of warranties as I too believe they will do anything to avoid paying...
Ended up getting the Extra Care - including wear and tear and airbags, aircon etc, for both our cars (hers a 2009 C-Max) for 1400 for 25 months cover.
Time will tell if it was a good buy or just good-bye to £1400.

Yes time will tell. I did a fair bit if haggling and got the extra care etc
I'm just hoping that in the event of a major problem there might be some help.
I've never driven the D3 apart from the test drive so can't wait to get my hands on it!
Out of curiosity, if the dealer was offering 12k to buy what might he have been thinking to have it up on the forecourt for?
A dealer would look to put as much as they can on it depends on the dealer..was it a LR main dealer or an indy?Cheers Ian

Yes. You're spot on there. I believe it was a main.
I was trying to work out the main differences between a HSE and a Td v6 s
Those were the two I were trying out , both 2006.
There is so much info out there I ended up just getting dizzy. This one is a HSE. Would one be classed as 'better' than the other or would it depend on what kind of usage you wee planning on getting out of the vehicle

Thanks for the info mikey.
Fingers crossed it will be with me for a good few years. Turns out the cam belts have been done. My colleagues wife had them done at last service.

Better & better. Hopefully you'll get a copy of the invoice to keep WD happy should you need to claim. Sounds like it has been well maintained. Whilst it won't mean you don't have unexpected issues it helps, plus your warranty will certainly help.
